Geno Smith is having his Pro Day today. Buddy Nix is in attendance.

Oddly, Arizona is NOT in attendance. Take it for what its worth.

Fair, though I would ask roughly how far through FA you think it is compared to how much of the roster the Bills have addressed. It's a different dynamic than what I'm used to with hockey.

It's tough to call it "waiting" when we don't know what they are doing. They are being very tight-lipped. That's why we need to wait to see what comes of all of this. There are plenty of guys still out there.
Eh. Unless you think they went after and didn't get some of the other guys who have already signed (which I doubt, looking at the contracts they got)... I have to think they've at least contacted the majority of their targets already. Someone's waiting - could be the team, the player, or both.

I'd like a Watson-Chandler pairing. They're both big guys, capable run blockers and are still dangerous through the air (assuming they have a halfway decent QB throwing to them. *cough* NOT TARVARIS JACKSON *cough*).

Seriously, anybody but Geno Smith or Matt Barkley.

Probably mostly the players and a little on the team. Some of the middle tier guys will likely make a few visits and take their time. They won't big the BIG money so they'll be looking for the right fit.

Yeah, I really don't like how they pigeonholed themselves into drafting a QB. Honestly either Keller or Watson is probably too steep a price tag, what with Chandler and all.

Why not Geno? I don't watch much college football, so I'm honestly curious.

I think he comes up small in big situations. Loads of talent though.

I'd also prefer a more traditional pocket-type QB (although with enough speed to get out of trouble/create a bit if necessary). The "new" read option QBs have a pretty short shelf life. For the most important position on the team, I want someone who'll be there a while.

Arizona wants Barkley. They signed Staton so expect them to hope he's available in the 2nd

Probably means they used the 8th pick on him (or Barkley).

Smith can be a pocket passer. For as much credit he is being given for being athletic he didn't run that often last year (and I want to say his Yards per rush were under 2). His biggest problem is difficulty finding 2nd WRs and check down passes (think Losman). If Marrone thinks he can coach him up than he'll be the pick. If he can find his inner Trent Edwards he'd be fine.

Apparently Chris Mortensen said on Mike and Mike that the Jaguars and the Eagles really like Geno Smith, and might even try to move up to #1 to take him.

So...so much for that idea...

Wonder if Andy Reid would take a trade with the Eagles.

Funny too because the only team mentioned as liking Geno Smith that I've heard of is Oakland (of the teams drafting before Buffalo)

Philly arrived a few days early for his Pro Day to see him work out. Definitely looks like the Eagles are very interested.

Does anybody else think that taking a cornerback with their first pick is a good idea?
I'm just thinking that it's still a position of need...

Free agency for WR
Cornerback with the first pick
QB with the 2nd pick
LB with the 3rd pick?

Yeah, I mean most of my boldeds are probably pipe dreams as far as costs go. Lot of work to do before the draft. It would help if we didn't have one too many Brad Smiths on the roster

i've been an EJ Manuel fan for awhile now, I really think he's just scratching the surface. I'd have no issue waiting until the 3rd round and going for him (or moving up late 2nd if need be) over these other guys that are currently rated higher than him.

Smith is a pocket passer. He hardly runs .

Well, I knew Geno was a longshot . So if Arizona likes Barkley and Genos gone too then it'll be Nassib. Not too disappointed but Id rather have Smith and would gladly trade up for him. People are waaaaay to hard on a guy who just threw 42 Tds and 6 ints.

Geno is absolutely a pocket passer. I don't know how many WVU games you've seen but I've seen 80+% over the past 5 years (I have family that goes to WVU / live in WV), the guy doesn't like to run. He only does it if he has to. He is a prototypical pocket QB, don't let his athletic ability fool you. I also think it's pretty weak to say he doesn't come up big based on KSU and Syracuse this year instead of his overall body of work.

I'd be really sad if that happened, I saw virtually nothing out of him at FSU to believe he will amount to anything. He's a true project and has no pocket presence, he constantly panics. Regardless, he's been getting a lot of hype lately so I doubt he lasts that long, someone will jump the gun.

Personally, it's Geno and Tyler Wilson in the top tier for QB and then everyone else. Geno's mechanics are flawless and his floor is an average starter in the league with the potential to be the step below the elite in my opinion. I've been long driving the Tyler Wilson bandwagon on these boards and elsewhere and wouldn't be shocked at all if he becomes the best QB in this draft.

Honestly, I think it's almost equal odds that top pick could be QB, WR, OT, OG, LB, CB, or S. Anybody from Smith, Barkley, Patterson, Johnson, Warmack, Cooper, Ogletree, Ansah, Mingo, Rhodes, Veccaro. It's hard to peg them right now.
