He isn't that bad.... that Arizona O Line is going to get a QB killed.

Agreed. I wouldn't mind Kolb. I don't think he's great, but their O-Line was just all-time bad. Buffalo's pass rush wasn't amazing but literally knocked the guy out the rest of the season.

Kolb
Jackson
Rookie

is still awful, but there really is no alternative.

I could see them bringing in Kolb a la Vince Young last year.

Kolb/Jackson/Rookie compete for starting job. The worst of Kolb/Jackson gets cut.

But Vince was cut for PigPen. BTW is he still on the roster?

Thigpen is a free agent.

And yes Vince was cut--they preferred Thigpen to Young. It may very well be the case that Jackson outperforms Kolb, or vice versa...the point is there's a competition for the "veteran" QB spot, in addition to the overall competition for the starting job.

Kolb was always going to fail as a starter. Being behind that Arizona "O-Line" was just the 2nd nail in the coffin. Still, can't be much worse than T-Jax so if we can, bring him in. Can't imagine he'll have an opportunity to start anywhere else (which he shouldn't)

Young said the Bills cut him because of the loan collectors (or at least had some thing to do with it). You need a back up QB and Fitz was pretty reliable in terms of starting.

I wouldn't be opposed to bringing Tebow in... to see what he can do as a QB than to see how he does as a Wildcat specialist... guess I'm trying to say I'd take just about anyone over Brad Smith right now.

There is no way Bray lasts any where near the 6th round! If he makes it out of the 2nd I will be surprised.... I hope they pick a qb with their 2nd rounder, Wilson, Nassib, Landry or Bray is ok with me....

Apparently the Jets are the immediate front runners for Kolb, despite adding Garrard

espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/21482/a-jets-kolb-marriage-pay-attention

Quote:
If QB Kevin Kolb is released by the Cardinals over the next 48 hours, which is highly likely, the Jets will consider him if the price is right, according to a league source.

New Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg coached Kolb with the Eagles from 2007 to 2010, and the Jets would like to have a quarterback on the roster that knows Mornhinweg's system and could make an easy transition.

More on Kolb to the Jetropolitans:

Quote:
Where would Kolb go upon his release? Believe it or not, there's a lot of fire behind this smoke: Rumors that he could indeed compete for and win the starting job with the New York Jets have quite a bit of weight to them. New Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg filled that same position for Andy Reid with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2007, when the Eagles selected Kolb in the second round out of Houston.

The decision to take Kolb, many say, was Mornhinweg's as much as anyone's, and Mornhinweg still holds a great affinity for Kolb.

The possibility was first broached by Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News via Twitter on Thursday morning.

Donald Jones signed with the Patriots, 3 years.

Aaaand a bunch of people from FB are now *****ing about how he's going "to tear it up in New England". Sigh, football fans are the worst.

I've been looking at the base 3-4 alignment as it stands currently. Lots of holes.

LDE - K. Williams
NT - Dareus
RDE - Carrington

ROLB - Moats
ILB - Sheppard
ILB - Bradham
LOLB - M. Williams

CB - Gilmore
SS - Searcy
FS - Byrd
CB - A. Williams/McKelvin

I don't see Lawson as anything more than a hybrid specialist. Either substituting for Carrington on passing downs or as an edge rusher if Mario swaps in for Carrington. I can't see Mario or Lawson playing the weakside, and I don't see a role for Anderson in this alignment at all.
