Honestly I'm going to be pretty upset if the Bills pick at 8, unless someone falls at a position of need.

That said, the list of teams looking to trade back is looking significantly longer than the list of teams looking to trade up.

Chris Brown's mock draft:

1. KC - OT Luke Joeckel, Texas A&M
2. JAX - DT Sharrif Floyd, Florida
3. OAK - OT Eric Fisher, Central Michigan
4. PHI - QB Geno Smith, West Virginia
5. DET - DE Ziggy Ansah, BYU
6. CLE - LB Dion Jordan, Oregon
7. ARI - OT Lane Johnson, Oklahoma
8. BUF - QB E.J. Manuel, Florida St.

http://www.buffalobills.com/news/art...5-4be7675e52aa

I hate this pick. Only pick worse would be Nassib. In this scenario, I'd prefer Milliner, Mingo, Lotulelei, Warmack, Cooper, Austin, Eifert, Vaccaro, even Barkley over Manuel.

If nothing else, this is going to be interesting. I am very curious how this plays out...

I don't understand why they'd take Manual there. He should almost definitely be available in the 2nd round. Not that I want him at all...

Austin??? No thanks!

I read a piece by Buscgalia that said the Revis trade impacts the Bills into the sense it may force them to stand pat since the jets may be interested in one of their guys.

It's speculation that the Jets may take a QB with one of their picks. But Ryan is a lame duck coach. He needs to win next season. I don't see why they'd waste a pick on one of these QBs who won't help the cause.

How much input will Ryan have? New GM might want to replace Ryan next year anyways.

Hate hate hate, Austin hype has become beyond ridiculous. We need a beast receiver not another twitch guy.

I fail to see how he makes the team better.

I typically think Mayock has more realistic views on college players than Kiper but this mock is terrible.

You have to love the mind games. Jets come out and say "we like Nassib", presumably to scare the Bills...and then the reports are now that the Bills like Barkley better. Guess we'll find out one way or another tomorrow how it'll all go down.

I fail to see the logic in the Bills taking an O linemen like some mocks are predicting. They weren't willing to pay Levitre but will draft a G who has potential to be just as good if not better. What are they gonna do when he wants to get paid in a few years? Just let him walk too?

I'd like to see them go WR and QB in the first two rounds and not particularly in that order. At the end of the day if they feel Barkley is their guy and can be a franchise QB then take him at #8. People will b***h about it being a reach now, but if it ends up working out in the long run noone is going to care that they reached for him.

Neither did Gilmore, I think.

I never quite track this argument. There's no reason to compare the circumstances of Levitre's free agent year to a hypothetical expiring contract 5 years down the line. Also, according to the rookie wage scale, Warmack's contract at #8 would be about $3.5M annual average. Levitre is now making almost $8M per year. And I'm pretty confident that Warmack will be a better player.

I've been hearing for a week that the Bills really liked Nassib and Barkley and were deciding between the two. Still think the Bills should wait until round 2.

John Clayton made an interesting point about why guards might go higher than is past years:

Quote:
2. The trend of giving lower ratings to guards is over: In the previous collective bargaining agreement, the thought of taking a guard in the top 10 didn't pencil out financially. The high price for high picks forced teams to put priorities on positions. Left tackle is one of the most expensive positions in the league. Guards are important, but unless they are dominating players, they aren't considered difference-makers. Because of that, guards often dropped into the lower part of the first round or went in the second. Under the new CBA, draft positions are slotted. The seventh pick in the draft will get around $3.7 million a year. The 10th pick will get around $3.02 million a season. That reality could lead to Alabama guard Chance Warmack and North Carolina guard Jonathan Cooper going in the top 10. Mike Iupati of the San Francisco 49ers proved that a guard can be a difference-maker. Iupati was the 17th pick in the 2010 draft, but he quickly established himself as one of the best guards in football. His blocking has helped the 49ers advance to two NFC title games and a Super Bowl.
Basically, under the previous CBA it was too expensive to take a guard too early in the 1st. Now it is not the case--so while you probably won't see a guard go first overall, taking one at #5-10 isn't as bad value as it used to be.

They both had pre-draft visits, along with Dareus.

Mayock was the only one who had Whitner coming to Buffalo in 06 when everyone and their mother picked Ngata

The only legit pick in this draft would be to select a guard at #8. Either Warmack or Cooper. A road grader type who can push the pile. God knows were not going to be able to do much on offense so might as well give Spiller and Jackson the best opportunity to move the chains

Thanks. Buddy likes to see his draft picks up close , that's why if we don't take a QB at 8 then I'm almost positive we are taking one of the first round caliber linebackers that visited us.

I will throw my remote at my tv if the Bills draft a ****ing guard at #8. That would be one of the worst picks in Bills history, guards aren't that important. If you want an elite guard then you take a good Rt or Lt and turn them into guards (which is something buddy nix has gone on record of saying). No to a guard and to an OL too. Take a chance on a QB, and if they don't pan out this year then draft another one. We aren't going anywhere unless we get a franchise QB. Geno, Barkley or Nassib, give me one of the 3 and ill be happy.

If it's not a QB, my guess would be Vaccaro more than the linebackers.

Really interesting that they didn't bring in any of the top OL for visits.

We need an everydown LB, not one of these specialized guys whose hand will be on the ground for the 2 of 4 downs he can play in on a given 4 down drive.

Like Kuechly isn't here this year, and the closest thing to him is Te'o.

The bills will likely take Tavon Austin... it just reminds me of when they took Spiller (speedy playmaker who can take it to the house on any/every play)

If they do take a WR i'd like to see them take Patterson.

But if the Bills were smart, they'd take Warmack at 8, then a QB in rd 2 if they're dead set on getting one of Smith, Nassib, or Barkley

Te'o has concerns about speed and therefore is getting a label as only being a 2 down LB. Jamie Collins may be a good pick and could be had in the 2nd or 3rd round.

I don't expect the pick to be defense. Although Milliner is a possibility if he slides. CB is a major need. On offense, I expect the OTs to be gone, leaving Warmack/Cooper. Austin/Eifert is my dark horse. They desperately need pass catchers and Eifert may be the best all-around option of the bunch. I think Nassib is a smokescreen, with them preferring Smith/Barkley/Manuel at QB.

Likely: Smith/Barkley/Manuel
Possible: Austin/Eifert/Warmack/Cooper
Wildcard: Milliner
