Ottawa / Carolina

Admitedly I know little about Carolina's goaltending prospects but i'm willing to bet with Cam Ward down and Dan Ellis as the backup they could use some help.

To Carolina:

Ben Bishop (RFA 2013)

To Ottawa:

Chad Larose (UFA 2013)

I don't think either team does this.

If we didn't have Chris Neil I'd go after Chad Larose.

What about a package for Tlusty? Are you guys sold on him or this just the effect of playing with Staal?

Why would we trade Bishop for a UFA, especially with Anderson injured?

I'm assuming we'd re-sign him before / shortly after the trade. Larose is good for about 15 goals in a full season and he's physical. I thought he'd fit in nicely.

I'd be fine with it if he's signed.

This.

Jokinen is exactly what the sens need.

- Can (has) played in the top 6
- Great at faceoffs
- Can play centre (now) and wing (when Spezza returns)
- Good in shootouts

I would definitely be up for something like Bishop for Jokinen + Peters (Sens would need a 3rd/AHL goalie)

No deal no way you trade a 25 year old goalie for a 30 year old forward......when the goalie has more wins then the forward has points.

So you're willing to trade him for Larose, but not Jokinen? Sure, he has struggled somewhat this year but its obvious which of those 2 is better.

And to the poster who asked for Peters as a throw-in, can't do it. The canes have only 4 goalies under contract including Ward, who's obviously injured. Ideally, if they got Bishop, Peters and Muse would stay in Charlotte.

This is awful.

No need for Larose and Bishop has more value.

We'll make it a 3-way trade and add in Philly, we can take Leighton back

Sens would need a 3rd goalie elsewhere then. Not a show-stopper.

Jokinen for Bishop still fills needs for both teams IMHO. We could argue all day about value and/or Jokinen's slump but Bishop for Jokinen is a good place to start the discussion.

Jokinen got 65, 52 and 46 points in the last 3 full seasons. The guy can play.

Plus - only 4 players on the Ottawa roster have more goals the Jokinen (3), so he's still scoring better than most Senators.

Sens should do this as soon as Anderson is ready to go.

Absolutely not. Larose only scores against Ottawa. If he's playing for us, who's he going to score against?

Jokinen s a good fit for the Sens. Would be a good playmaking winger for Turris with a healthy lineup. At the moment he could play centre and help the Sens out at the dot, which they are struggling with.

His contract is perfect: Good money if he produces like a top six, not the end of the world if he doesn't. UFA in 2014 meaning he won't be lost for nothing this summer, but not a long term commitment if he doesn't work out.

That said he's having a bad year.

Jokinen + 2nd for Bishop

Bishop is a #1 goalie and Jokinen is an overpaid 3rd liner. Canes need to add

Jokinen is a player who, over the last 3 years, was given 2nd line minutes against 2nd line competition, and produced 2nd line numbers.

What has Bishop ever accomplished to prove that he is a number 1 goaltender?

A 26 year old goalie with 30 NHL games under his belt is a #1 now

good to know

yea, like we would trade away Peters with Cam Ward being injured. Ellis & Peters will be the Canes goalies going forward until Ward is back, then Peters goes back down to the AHL.
Peters has been doing well recently with the Checkers, I believe he went 30-32 in their most recent game.
