EDM trades Hartikainen and a 3rd round pick for Johnny Boychuk.

A bunch of views and no replies, I'm guessing everyone is in agreement that this would be a good trade for both sides.

Boston would have no interest in trading Boychuk unless they received someone in return that could fill his minutes.

A contending team won't open a hole in their top two defence pairings to address a need on their 3rd line.

The Bruins will probably address their bottom 6 at, or before the deadline, but they'll do it without disrupting the rest of their line up.

Boston cannot trade a defensemen without receiving one back. Johnny B plays 20+ minutes a night and usually ends up in the top 5 in hits and block shots for the B's while killing penalties and chipping in offensively. Easy no from Boston.

This is equivalent of the Bruins shipping out Justin Florek or Brian Ferlin and a 3rd for Petry. Oilers wouldn't hesitate to say no.

This is terrible for the Bruins. A top 4 d is worth far more than a 3rd/4th liner and a 3rd. Plus as others have mentioned, who steps up for the Bruins? If there is one organizational need the Bruins have its more top 4 type d.

I make it more like, "not worth commenting on."

Boychuk, Top 4 on cup winning team.

Who the hell is Hartikainen?

No thanks. I usually understand when both sides don't want to do a trade but EDM would be foolish to not take this and run.

I like what Hartikainen brings to the table but Oilers would be foolish not to jump on this if offered.
