Where is our offence?

I think most people assumed going into the season that our offence would be the one bright spot on the team considering all our skilled forwards.

Surprisingly our defense has been relatively decent and our goal tending has exceeded most of our expectations.

But why can't we score? Can we put the blame on Kreuger's system? Or does the blame rest solely on our top six?

It is no surprise that we lack size in our top 6, but our shooting percentages have been abysmal.

It seems like Eberle and Hopkins can't find the back of the net even if their lives depended on it.

Yakupov, our only consistent shooter is a mess defensively and doesn't know what to do when he has the puck.

Taylor Hall has been excellent but if his injury is long term, I'm afraid we will be drafting top 5 once again.

Yak is a rookie. Ebs and Nuge are in slumps. Hall, Gagner, Hemsky are doing fine. And well scoring depth has always been a problem with this team.

It's in the eastern conference with the rest of the offense.

It is true. I look at the jets and think they are a way worse offensive team. Playing in the SE vs the NW, is a world of difference.

I really hope the offence comes around, to me the biggest disappointment is the power play. I thought Nuge and Shultz would dominate, but, takes time.

The bottom 6 is virtually useless. Yakupov doesn't get offensive opportunities unless someone is injured. Eberle and Nuge suck right now. Smyth is an anchor for everyone. Just a couple reasons.

Thanks to the OP for one more thread on this subject, as it obviously hasn't been beaten to death enough so far.

Yakupov is scoring at 2.48 points per 60 min played - 76th in the NHL and 4th on Oilers (Gagner, Hall and Hemsky).

He is scoring at 1.35 goals per 60 min played - 38th in the NHL and 2nd on Oilers (Hemsky).

Thanks for the site. After last night he is at 2.54pts/60minutes good for 3rd on the team. He has to play top 6. and 1st unit PP. the other boys aren't getting it done.

Half of it died in the last game of the round robin in WJC and the other half was forgotten on OKC.

Would have nothin to do with them having 5 dmen with 6 or more points while Edmonton has 1...

It just simply hasn't improved.

Using last year's GF/G, we'd have 3 more goals right now.

For whatever reason, this team has never been able to score.

These kids have never had anyone teach them how to score in the nhl.

When you join the team in your rookie season and are the leading scorers, and by far the best players on the team, its hard to think you need to change something about your game. Now that they've been adjusted to, and are getting shut down hard every game, the junior dekes are rarely working, and they don't know what else to do.

I don't doubt their heart of drive, but a veteran like jagr would have worked wonders for this teams young stars. The game isn't just about making beautiful plays until someone is wide open for an easy tap in, its about driving the middle, mucking it up, taking shots instead of going for the impossible pass...

How are you supposed to improve as a player, when the only people as good as you on the team, play the exact same way.

We're relying on the first two lines to score. Unless they're not scoring, we don't score.

3rd and 4th lines aren't chipping in the occasional goal.

I think a lot of us are very offended having to watch them game after game doing the same things over and over leading to mediocre results far too often.
