Has kept them in the game. Save for the goal and the Johansen-Atkinson sequence, the Jackets have looked as bad as I've seen in recent games. Getting dominated.

Matt dared me in chat to post this on the board.

"Mase playing much better than Bob. If he keeps this up I'd be cool with bringing him back as backup."

The difference in skill between the two teams is stunning - tic tac toe passes on one end, and a team that has a hard time even cycling the puck on the other. Anyone know whether Umberger is playing tonight - he's turned into Casper the ghost, freakin' invisible.

Uhm I'm no expert on CBA, but as an RFA wouldn't they have to offer Mase the same kind of money he's making now?

I double-dog dare you to tell the people in the chat we don't care.

I asked earlier today why people think Bob is redeemable but Mason isn't. To me it's two versions of the same player. That is not to suggest I think either one is all that. And I sure don't want to have to qualify Mason. Either one as a backup for backup pay, cool.

I never said how we'd bring him back as backup. Perhaps we smuggle him in with the laundry.

Good for Nikitin for standing up to Carcillo.

Bad for how that fight went and the inevitable 17 minutes he'll have to sit out.

Why should the refs have come in Rimer? He engaged, how stupid would it have been for the refs to jump in and stop it. Shut up Rimer

Rimer, Nikitin stood up for his partner. Don't be a homer telling the refs it can't happen. Give me a break.

I'm no CBA expert either, but the 3.5 is the Qualifying Offer. You can still negotiate a lower cap hit on a longer deal, or maybe (not sure) take him to arbitration for a lower cap hit. But if you can't do arbitration and you don't do the QO, then Mase can walk if he wants.

I think Mase is looking a lot better mentally and physically, and with his improved demeanor you might see even better numbers going forward. I'm glad we still have another dozen games with him to see what we have, because it is still too uncertain to pay him another 3.5 mil.

can we give up the CBJ hat trick?

1. take a huge hit
2. lose a fight you instigate due to the huge hit
3. give up a goal on the PP you get for instigating said fight

Wow no instigator, just unsportsmanlike, so no 10 minutes.
