I can only imagine Feaster last night. He gets home, his wife asks him "how did your day go?". Feaster responds " It was tough I had to trade Iginla today, but I got a first round pick for him and I have heard this draft has some great talent like Barkov, Drouin, Jones. If I get one of them with that pick the fan base will forgive me." His wife looks stunned can't believe what she has heard and asks "Isn't that first rounder going to be 30th overall." Feaster stares blankly at the ceiling contemplating his wife's response " No its in the first round", "Well how many teams are there Jay?". "There are 30 of course" he snaps at such a stupid question then it clicks the pick will be 30th overall he had just traded Iginla away for only a decent pick. "Hun I have to call Chia in Boston long distance, its going to be a long night."

How come there's 243 votes for yes, and only like 10 Flames fans on this whole board?

because the poll is open to the entire board.
and any troll or persons who like to use Feaster as the laughing stock of the nhl will vote yes.

I bet that trade wouldn't work on NHL 13.

I'd be more comfortable with a program designed by EA as a GM than Feaster

Gotta give Feaster a chance now, too far into a rebuild (retool whatever) to can him now.

To me this is a Feaster and Weisbrod blueprint moving forward. I expect Weisbrod to be a GM someday based on how the next 5 years goes for the Flames.

I will admit I was on board with what Feaster has done so far. Last year I was fine with keeping things intact as it looked like we could sneak into the 8th spot, it fell apart.

I was a HUGE believer that once the Sutter era (Daryl & Brent) was over that things would get better. I thought the Hartley, Cervenka, Hudler and Wideman moves along with Baertschi would put us in contention for the NW title. I was just as wrong as them.

Now moving forward I like the last two drafts. Jankowski is a mystery yet. Some other good pieces.

Yeah the Iggy trade, not sure, tough one, so many variables, so much criticism but this trade can only be fairly judged years down the road yet.

What can he get for our other vets? Then what do they do at the draft and for free agency?

We have too much committed in Feaster depending on Weisbrod who in turn has turned Calgary's scouting philosophy on it's head. It has to be given time. Will it be a success? No one knows but we are too far in to turn back now.

To me it's the Weisbrod show. He is Feaster's top lieutenant, I think Feaster has given him the mandate to do what he thinks should be done.

If Weisbrod told Feaster the Wideman signing was a good idea, then I do not want Weisbrod to ever be the GM of this team.

Why do you say this? I thought the Wideman signing was one of two moves that was actually working out for the Flames (The second being Hudler).

Because Wideman has been poor? I don't get this at all.

Wideman has been great so far. Much better defensively than advertised and all the offense that was promised...I don't get it either.

Well seeing as he was about a day away from UFA that contract is a given.

He is having a good year. I just didn't like him before the Flames signed him, I saw things I didn't like in his game. I thought it was a desperation signing. He has been very good this year, I know.

I see what you are getting at, it's not about now. He's having a solid year this year and no complaints as of yet. But what will the next 4 years look like from him? Hope it works out for us, because ufa signings usually turn sour quick

Three days before July 1 Feaster had 18million in cap space. 18MILLION! He walked away with Comeau, Stempniak, Sarich, Wideman and Hudler. Yeesh.

Although the Stempniak signing looks good right now the rest are all huge mistakes.

The Comeau and Sarich signings did nothing more than keep a pair of Abbottsford guys off the team. Say Horak and Breen.

The Wideman and Hudler signings were totally wrong for the Flames. If you are gonna open the vault for veterans then it must address the needs of the team. The team needed a center, to get younger and to get tougher. Didn't hit any of those three. Those two contracts scream buyout.

Agree to disagree, we got one of the best pp quarterbacks in the league which has been one of weaknesses for years and we got a top 6 winger who has hands no one else on the team does. There were no UFA's the fit the #1 center role so we got 2 very good players that both add elements we didn't have. Our season hasn't been ruined by them it has been ruined by lackluster team defense and some of the worst goaltending this team has had in decades.

How these contracts scream buyout is simply amazing combines they have 40 points in 63 games. This post screams fan overreaction.

The "offensive style" that we are trying to implement is not working, maybe we should go back to Defense first??

Just wondering what team last won the cup loading up with players at the deadline. So can we stop saying the pick we got from pitsburg is the 30th overall.

Kinda an unfair comparison since Kipper has been pretty brutal this year versus being a top 10 goalie last year.
