Detroit is having D problems just like us. Doubt they want to trade one of them.

It sounds like he would move guys like Zibanejad, Silfverberg and co. as long as it was the right player coming back (mid 20s signed on a contract). Seems to fall in line with O'Reilly rumours at the time.

We're not trading for veterans, but if the right deal pops up for a young proven forward he'll pull the trigger. Good interview though. If we fall out of playoff contention he'll move some veterans.

It's also interesting to know that going into the season they had an eye on a few veteran players to try and move for before all the injuries popped up.

So anyone else see some mid to late 20 year old players from teams that likely won't make the playoffs that we could move for?

I agree. He's a young and talented Newfie (21 pts/22G). Should get along well with coach MacSpud.

Would absolutely love BM to grab Ian White if the price is right.

Methot-White
Weircioch-Gonchar
Phillips-Benoit/Lundin/Gryba

Going down the stretch with this d-corps would be decent imo, and it could be a great tryout for White if we are considering signing him this summer anyways as a Gonchar replacement..and he'd cost significantly less then Streit(who I'd still prefer).

Meh, if nothing else it would mean not overplaying Gonchar and Gryba the way Maclean's been forced to. I'd like to see Hamrlik claimed and the Sens going with 7 D and 11 forwards.

Michalek-Turris-Alfie
Zibanejad/Stone-Regin-Silfverberg
Greening-Smith-Neil
JOB-Condra

Methot-Gryba
Weircioch-Gonchar
Phillips-Benoit
Hamrlik

My concern with White is that he'd essentially be a rental. I have a nervous twitch about giving away anything for anyone who might not be here next season or beyond given the current situation.

Maybe Kris Russel instead? Certainly brings a skill set we could currently use and is still RFA after this year.

Weircioch-White
Phillips-Benoit/Lundin/Gryba

We don't need another left handed defenceman. Getting a right hander that can carry the puck would be ideal. White fits for us if we could get him to re-sign for next year as Gonchar's replacement.

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline
Scouts from Colorado, Los Angeles, Nashville, NY Rangers, Ottawa on hand in Nationwide Arena for #CBJ vs. #Oilers. #gentlemenstartyourrumors

Would think that the discussions for either of these teams involve Bishop.

I'm thinking Brassard ends up a Sen one way or another this season. It makes sense both ways.

A bigger deal may involve Tyutin as well.

If we're really hung up on getting a right shot, then Cody Franson would be a good guy to look at. I would think he's pretty expendable in Toronto. There's just too many mediocre puck movers there with Phaneuf, Gunnarson, Liles and even Gardiner (not mediocre for my money). I doubt they'd want more than a B level prospect and a low pick. Still RFA after this year.

If we're looking at Edmonton D, I'd love Jeff Petry.

If we're looking at Columbus D, The Wiz might be someone to go after if the price is low. His contract is a joke but we have the space. Replaces Gonchar next year, Karlsson this year.

I'm good with any of those. I doubt that Toronto gives us Franson though (they're not going to want to help a divisional rival they're so close to). I could see a deal for Wisniewski working out if we could figure out terms to grab Brassard at the same time. I would try and sell something like Bishop++ to them...maybe Da Costa and another offensive prospect like Puempel/Noesen.

The only caveat here being that Wisniewski is out for another 6 - 8 weeks IIRC.

Bishop to Columbus for one of their 1st rounders makes too much sense.

Yes please. Going into the draft with two 1st rounders would be nice. We know what our staff can do with those picks and 1sts would be the currency needed to add an impact player via trade in addition to a young roster player and high end prospect.

A 1st would probably be more appealing to most teams than Bishop in a big quantity for quality deal.

I wouldn't give up a first rounder for Bishop, I wouldn't say his value has "doubled" since we got him
