Caron Recalled-Paging Jordan Caron

What has happened to this kid? He is big, he can shoot the puck, he made the Canada WJC team over Seguin as a checking grinding player.

He has everything right in front of him and he has 4 goals in the last 35 games in the AHL, He did better with Boston last year.

The Boston Bruins could use that size and grinding, cycling on the third line against a pretty big Tampa team and yet he is going to be on some bus likely headed down 495.

Boston's second and third line wingers are all either on the smaller side or as in Seguin's case Seguin (you know what I mean). Caron is 6'2" and looks bigger- appears big boned with broad shoulders; and even just playing a clean honest game would have him in the NHL. Watching Ottawa last night, they swarm, I didnt even know all their players but they came in droves and I'm thinking geez, just give me one of those guys.

The problem is Boston is not beating/leaning on the defense other than Lucic and sometimes Horton....Marchand and Seguin are great but they dart around....that third line is just not consistently making the d work. Bourque could go against a Montreal team that more suits his skillset but the Bruins need some size (and skill0.

very frustrating with his progression...hopefully he goes off tonight in Providence

Joe Haggerty said on 98.5 early in the season that the coaching staff "has a soft spot" for Jordan Caron and the way he plays, and that he would get the first crack at the 3rd line LW spot if Chris Bourque didn't pan out. If that is the truth, Caron must be playing that badly right now or has still not fully recovered.

Could possibly upgrade Bourque, but that's certainly no feat. I'm more looking forward to trading Caron and a pick for a more dominant (rental) at the deadline. He could fetch something.

May be time for a change of scenery for the kid. It was his job to lose and lose it he did. The FO makes no bones about that and their disappointment.

I am not a big fan of Caron, besides his lack of speed I saw too much of a tendency to dump and chase. Don't know that he is all that hungry to score goals. Coaching has something to do with that, and maybe I just saw him a few times when he was being called to change or the situation called for a dump in, but I don't see much of a desire/belief that he can make plays. I hate to say it but a team with a more wide open style might actually help him.... Don't think he has the speed for that but it might help.

DKH, I share your thoughts/outlook and intrigue with Caron. When the Bruins were in the slump of all slumps last year, Caron was a bright spot IMO. When nobody was scoring, he was. When nobody was skating and grinding it out, he was.

I find myself holding onto that image of Caron and could care less what he is doing in Providence.

I want to see him get a crack at the big show and it is getting to a point where I am becoming very frustrated. Why the hell is it so big a deal if Bourque sits a game to insert Caron into the line-up? Will the Bruins sink like a stone? Will the absence of Bourque affect Chemistry? Come on!

It it like Bourque is the freaking straw that stirs the Bruins success, which is absolutely ridiculous.

Some players need a fire lit under their ass - see Lucic. I think Caron may fit into this category.

Give me some JC!

Actaully even though I am not a believer in Caron, I would still put him in Bourque's place. The problem is that would go against the team philosophy of earning it and there is something to be said for that. Besides if he is not potting at least half a point at the AHL level something is wrong, whether it is injury or he is just a bust.

Caron would be a better fit for the third line then Bourque.

yeah, Pevs and Kells are already well accustomed to having a substandard line mate....what's another one.

I'm all for getting Iginla but for the time being, Caron could be a step up

But what are you basing that on?

Right now he can't get out of his own way in the AHL.
He by no means has earned a spot in Boston. He's lucky they haven't sent him to the ECHL

That's true, but didn't this happen before he got sent up last year? For some reason he doesn't perform as well in Providence.

I think more then anything Bourque has earned his way down to Providence, not Caron earning his way to Boston.

Ok. That's a different point to discuss. I agree that the Bourque experiment has run its course. But I don't believe Caron is the answer. He is trending down over last three years in almost any category.
Goals down. Points down. +\_ down. Penalties up.

Also, Bourque is scoring at the same pace Caron did when he was up before. About 1 point every 3 to 4 games. ( I still support upgrading over Bourque though)

Time for Caron to be bundled into some deal in my opinion.

I'm a bigger Spooner fan but I don't think he's a good fit for third line wing, he looked small when he was called up this year. That line needs a bigger body that can work the boards.

Actually, Bourque is not the only problem on the third line.

A close view, wspecially on Peverley's game needs to have some attention.

Spooner already said he's uncomfortable playing wing and management agreed. That's why he didn't come up and play wing when all those guys were hurt a few weeks ago. I'd give Paille a shot and back fill his spot on the fourth line with some muscle.

Caron's value is essentially zero right now, foolish to include him in any deal unless your trade partner is high on him for some reason. Since Bourque has essentially been a minus, I bring him up and see if he's the missing element to that line between now and the deadline.

Caron wouldn't be a big upgrade at all over Bourque, anyway.

I wouldn't for the reasons I've stated as well as it sends the wrong message to the rest of the organization that are busting their tails and performing.

Showcase him in the majors. Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll surprise us.

May as well hang onto him at this point since his stock price is in the toilet. He showed some potential last year with the big club so I wouldn't write him off yet but it has been brutal year for him. See which way it goes next year.

Until any trade happens this is the best short-term solution. Paille will make the third line better than it is now with Bourque.
