Komi hasnt worn an A this season. He did under Wilson, but I think that was Burke pressure.

I think Komisarek rebounds as a Hal Gill type playoff hero somewhere else, but won't do a thing here.

Surprised it took him this long. He did start the season pretty well but there's no room on the team so hopefully we get something out of this.

He's still a solid bottom pairing NHL dman on many teams, no hard feelings about the trade request as he's not getting any game in here. If he was making around $1.5 mil per year, we'd be able to trade him easily. However, he makes $3.5 mil/year this year and next year, with a disgusting cap hit of $4.5 mil. He's overpaid to such a ridiculous degree that I think he'll be VERY hard to move, we'd probably have to give up significant value to get a team to take on that contract. Better to just buy him out.

I wish Komi the best. While I've never been a fan of his, I think Komi's a case of a player singing a big contract and then trying to live up to that contract. Whenever I saw him play it was like he was trying to do too much and so he made a lot of mistakes. Komi can be effective if he keeps his game simple and is paired with a partner who can skate and handle the puck.

Trade report: Komisarek submits list of teams

While the title of the article is a bit slanted, it appears as though discussions are beginning with Leafs GM Dave Nonis and Mike Komisarek over the possibility of trades if he were to give a list of 12 or so teams he would be willing to move towards.

While I think a lot of discussion will be for other teams' GM on whether it makes sense to bear such a large contract, he is a capable defender on most teams as a 3rd line.

So the question may become, who needs a bit more help, and has the cap space available? Perhaps more interestingly; what teams may be searching for a contract that will get them to the cap floor if the opportunity arose to become the recepients of picks and prospects in exchange for their sought after top line players.

What your thoughts on this?
Who may be in a situation of selling that you also think could be interested in his contract/services?

Dont Komisarek (and most players with a limited NTC) give their list of options when the season starts? I do think there is something like that going on every season even if they are risking getting traded or not.

Anyone that knows the game can see that Komisarek doesn't belong anymore.

Nice guy and all, just another bad contract, tough spot for him. I feel badly for him because from what I remember in MTL, he was pretty solid. But I'm happy he wants to move on.

On a side note, I would see him in High Park walking his dog every now and then, and his gf is one of the best looking, most fit woman I have ever seen. That I can pound the potato to Mr. Komisarek. Adios, I will miss you gf more than your grenades and bad play.

I think Komi has a no movement clause as well as no trade, that's why he hasn't been put on waivers and sent to the Marlies like Finger or Connelly. I believe a no movement means he can't be waived or sent down.

Just another classic example of Burke bs. Said he didn't believe in no trade clauses and then agrees to add a NMC to this, his worst contract signing.

Komi should have asked to be traded 2 years ago. You really have to question any player that would be willing to sit in press box for nearly 2 complete seasons watching AHL scrubs and rookies take his spot.

Does Komi complain? Is he upset? Other than breaking his stick at practise he seems pretty content to me.

Last guy I'd want anywhere near my team - I retract my previous statement about Komi joining the Marlies - he should sit in press box and rot until his contract expires - forget buying him out - let the rest of NHL continue to see his true colour - Green.

Zero chance we move him. No one will take that contract and why would the Leafs take on ANY salary when they can amnesty him next year?

Unfortunate but unless someone is mentally deficient he stays in Toronto.

I say put Komisarek on Phaneuf's Right Side for a few games and see how he does. The guy is a veteran and could be the stay at home guy that Phaneuf needs. Besides when Frattin comes back they'll have to send Holzer down to clear a spot. He's the only guy that is waiver exempt and it doesn't look like Nonis is going to trade anybody yet.

try and grab a 2nd-5th rounder for him, he's useless to us IMO.

His contract is just brutal for what he gives, I'd take back salary, but then you have that problem, instead of just amnestying him.

So really, unless we get a 2nd or 3rd for him, I'd just wait and amnesty him in the summer.

Liles to Colorado for a 2nd.

Komisarek to Montreal for Kaberle.

Avs need a defender and most Avs fans want Liles back.

Swap of players that had success where they were before. Similar contracts.

We have no idea whether he did or didn't, just that he didn't publicly.

Not complaining publicly doesn't mean you're content, it means you're professional.

Have a lot of respect for Komisarek.

Great guy, judging by everything we as fans hear and see.

Drops the gloves with whoever, whenever its needed to stick up for teammates, and he never once was a distraction. He could've easily cried and whined about his lack of ice time, but he hasn't said a word.

A true model teammate.

Too bad he didn't work out. If only he signed at the same time Carlyle became head coach, we could've had a Dan Girardi-type. He's been beaten down pretty badly by Wilson, though. I'm still amiss about his lack of chances this season. I mean, in the four games he played, I thought he looked great. If he continued to play games, I think he would've at least gained some more trade value.

Penner has been riding the pine down in LA and he played well under Carlyle, I wonder if something could be worked out with them.

Komisarek for Penner

Komisarek has another year more on his contract than Penner but maybe take back some Salary and we could do a deal.

There is no room for Penner and he is not the player you make room for.
