mike komisarek is and always will be a defensive liability.
Much? No. Marginally? Maybe. He's directly caused several goals, and for a defensive defenseman, he's not very good in his own zone. Not impressed.

Komi won't bring any sort of return. He's a salary dump.

A conditional 4th/5th rounder.

Why not just buy him out with one of our free buyout passes? Problem solved and we don't have to eat any of his salary that another team would expect us to do. We would only get a 7th rounder at best anyways

Can't do that until the offseason.

Most of my fellow Islander fans would argue this but I would say Komi and a 7th for Marty Reasoner?

Komi for a conditional 7th. The condition being that he plays 20+ games.

if he could be traded, it would have already happened. I wonder if he can waive his NMC to play with the Marlies.

We under no circumstances should we be holding onto any cap hit moving forward just to accommodate somone who has clearly not earned a damn thing for the organization or it's fan base.

If he wants to play hockey then he should waive his NMC and join Conn in the AHL.

Haters gonna hate. Honestly, Komisarek, in the four games that he played, was actually pretty good. Can't blame him for wanting out. When he finally starts playing well, they press-box him. If I was him I'd be calling for a trade too.

Decent player.

An even better guy.

No confidence and trust from the coaching staff.

If he goes, that's fine - at this point it's pretty clear that he's an expendable piece on that blue line.

It's all about his contract. If Mike Komisarek was a $2M per year cap defense-man, he would be dressed and playing a regular shift and he would be an easily trade-able player. And given his character and outgoing personality, he would be a candidate for Captaincy. As it is, the risk of an injury derailing the compliance buyout option this summer to too great for him to play here (or with the Marlies...even if he waived his NMC).

Finally people are starting to appreciate the mess that Burke has created here. (And lucky that CBA allows an amnesty buy out because this would be painful contract. Not so much for the salary but the no move clause that forces the LEAFS to keep Gardiner in AHL) THis is not Komisarek's fault - this is on Burke.

He played great under Carlyle. Some people dont see this only cause he sucked while Wilson was here and will forever be the scapegoat in their minds

Would rather play Komisarek, then Holzer or Kostka. He deserves to play and hopefuly gets a chance elsewhere

Nobody wants him even for future considerations (which is essentially nothing)? That's what happens when you sign a contract that you know you can't live up to. I don't blame him for taking that contract at the time, but he had to have known what the downsides are.

Strait has played solid #4 mins this season. Isles rewarded him with a 3 yr deal.
His $775, 000 salary is much more appealing then Komi's salary, even if the Leafs ate half Komi's salary.

and Carkner's making $1.5m on the 3rd pairing. Also more appealing, them paying half of Komi's $3.5m-$4.5m salary.

Yeah, that NYI one is pretty unrealistic.

What are your thoughts on a package containing Komisarek+ for a underwhelming start for Goligoski?

Huh? What's stopping us from sending down Holzer and bringing up Gardiner? Gardiner has been in the AHL because management has chosen to keep him there. If they wanted him up he'd be here right now.

Speaking of Gardiner, he wouldn't even be here if not for Burke. Burke is the reason we're even a semi-competitive team right now.
