Brian Flynn appreciation thread

Here is a guy who came from the AHL and has racked up 5 goals and 4 assists in 20 or so games while still being in his early 20's. Over the course of a whole season that is a 15 / 15 A type season. So thank you Brian Flynn.

Here's a guy who, when he puts his contact lenses in, he can see better!

/madden parody

Enjoy his effort level, and he and Porter - though poor-ish the last three outings, leave me comfortable when they're on the ice.

From what I've seen (which is admittedly less this season), he plays like he cares, consistently, and is glad to be up, and has been OK positionally, even if he's not the most talented / skilled guy going.

I'm absolutely fine with that.

He's been the best forward here since he was called up. True there have been injuries, Pomer traded and line shuffling but Flynn has been a bright spot the last few weeks. Would honestly like to see a Vanek-Porter-Flynn line to finish the season.

Why not Vanek-Hodgson-Flynn? Van and Hodgson seemed to work well together.

I like how Porter and Flynn have been together, both have been working hard to create chances and I view playing with Vanek as a reward for their efforts.

Sorry I missed this thread yesterday. Put me in the Brian Flynn fan club. I love his speed. I love that he goes to the net. I think he is a pretty good PKer, especially considering he recently got to the NHL from his first AHL season. NHL.com says he has only 1 giveaway to 8 takeaways through his first 19 NHL games and a +8 on a pretty miserable team. There is a lot to like with this kid. He may never be a superstar or top point getter, but he could be a great contributor on both special teams for years to come.

I really like how he's been playing. He goes to the correct areas and he always keeps his feet moving, which unfortunately stands out on this squad.

He busts his ass and he doesn't commit any egregious errors. I can't ask for more given his role.

I like him. I did when I first saw him on TV in a Rochester game. He does it well

21 games, 10 points. +10. Can't complain at all, Really impressed. Great to watch as well. I think him and Porter have worked well as well. Porter has 4 points in his last 4 games.

I'll be more interested next season as the Sabres have a habit of 'getting hot' towards seasons end.

Awards:
The most important thing seems to be that he works hard, but also that he works smartly. There is effort and he understands hockey basics: where to be, how to get there, and effective play.

There have been points in time when he and Porter have been hemmed in -- the booing shift in the Devils game was their line -- but they don't give up easy chances. They support the defensemen like the defensemen need, coming deep enough to allow for outlets and then not blowing the zone before the puck is out. Simple, basic, effective.

He provides a lot of things we lack. He is an above average skater, with an extremely high compete level. I think he can evolve into a good checking line winger and a second line scorer in a pinch.

As far as the times where they got hemmed in, Luke Adam was on their line. The same Luke Adam who doesn't understand the concept of coming back in front of the defenseman to clear the zone. Ott - Porter - Flynn made up our most efficient line the past two games IMO.

Flynn has one minus game out of the 21 he has played for the Sabres.

I appreciate what he brings to the team. He hustles his butt off on ice and seems to have some talent and hockey smarts. I am comfortable with him being in our bottom 6 along with Porter...
