BREAKING: Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby had surgery Saturday night for a broken jaw and will be out indefinitely.

Can't believe ESPN is breakin this on my Twitter....usually they're like 12 hours behind when it comes to Hockey.

It's more about conditioning, as he's been dealing a back injury recently.

I think Vanek missed a month with his broken jaw. So probably best case is Crosby misses the 1st week or 2 of the playoffs.

Kassian context:
Quote:
Kassian's demotion was something of a surprise. He had missed eight of the last nine games with a bad back.

"He needs to play," Vigneault said before the team left Edmonton for San Jose late Sunday morning.

"We want him to get a little bit more ice time. He has been out for a little bit more than two weeks, on and off, and we felt for now he needed to play and we are going to send him down there."

After a strong start to the season, when he played for a time on Vancouver's top line, Kassian has struggled offensively. He has not scored in his last 20 games and had just three assists in that span.

Kassian, acquired at last year's trade deadline in the deal that sent Cody Hodgson to Buffalo, had five goals in his first seven games this season.

Kassian took the morning skate on Saturday and Vigneault had indicated he would be a game-time decision for Saturday night's meeting with the Edmonton Oilers.

He did not play in Vancouver's 4-0 loss to the Oilers and Vigneault had said after that game that Kassian was "close" to being ready to rejoin the lineup.

Sucks. I'm not a Crosby fan by any means... but wow has he been unlucky lately, and when the best players in any sport aren't playing due to injury it's a shame.

I can't wait to see TBN go nuts with "Hire Torts" if he is gassed by the Rangers.

Assuming NY does ditch Torts, TBN should have comments like that.

I'm not exactly sure what it is you're trying to say.

Torts is a bad coach. Everything has to be 100% his way, he doesn't put players in the best position to succeed. There's definitely being too "hard-line" and he's well beyond. It's no surprise the more talented guys that have played under him haven't produced well.

If they thought Darcy was tough to deal with....

Imagine the whining coming from them with Torts...

I'd love it.

I'm not sold on Torts being the type of coach that this team will need. Especially if they are in rebuild mode.

Marty St. Louis won the Art Ross and the Hart when Torts was his coach. I'd say that was producing well

Why did he let Jagr walk in the first place?
