I watch hockey for more than having Steve Webb run around trying to injure players.

I'm okay with hits executed for the reason hitting is permitted to separate the player from the puck.

I suggest some people should watch MMA or WWE if they're more interested in seeing men receive blows to the head than athletes perform skills which enhance a game.

If we beat Jersey and Ottawa, we can be in a really sweet spot.

Couldn't work out much worse for the Leafs. Got to win tomorrow since it seems every team is picking up at least a point every night.

NHL really needs to go to the soccer model and give 3 points for a regulation win.

What an embarrassment to the league, can you imagine them getting the first overall pick for a 4th year in a row! That would be the climax of failure. Not even the Islanders have been that bad and thats saying something.

I'm an Oilers fan and it is pretty obvious to me what is going to happen.

We will likely end up with a top 5 pick (#5 is my guess). Tambellini will be fired for not improving enough. The Oilers will court Jim Nill from Det (who they tried to get before hiring Tambi but he turned them down). Nill (or next GM) will come in and likely draft a big center with the high pick and make a few changes to bottom 6. The team will fight for playoff spot next year and everybody will credit new GM for making the right moves and talk about how the right management makes all the difference in the world

Ugh, the North East is so frustrating this year.

Everybody is getting points, even Buffalo lately.

I agree with almost everything here except the final statement. I think there is a large contingent of folks which are willing to watch just about anything for the chance of pain (nascar anyone?). Wrestling and MMA happen to also be athletes preforming skills to enhance a sport, but because the mindless violence sells, that is what is mostly seen.

After spending 3 years in one of the top wrestling schools in NA I changed my tune entirely on that sport and the skill taken to preform each action together, like a really painful dance, but agree that it sucks most people pay to see you **** up and get injured then do to see you preform well.

Staged fights or the potential for one will always draw crowds. Always have, always will. From all the corners of the world through all times of humanity there have been some sort of ritual fighting going on. Hockey, MMA, boxing is just some of the modern versions of it.
