I played as a goalie for 10 years, and when I ended up on my stomach I was a dead duck every time because you're only covering 20% of the net and upstairs is wide open.

It's better to come out, challenge and stay up, gives yourself at least a chance for the puck to just hit you then to try and rob the guy in front.

Example:

If Luongo follows Marchand all the way around and stays with him, at least Marchand doesn't have a gaping net to shoot at.

Same scenario as the 2nd goal tonight, but Price isn't on his stomach. Even though the puck goes in, Price comes out to challenge and at least gives himself a chance to stop the puck.

Although it's impossible to always make those saves, and it wasn't Luongo's fault that the play developed, he could've given himself a much better chance to stop the puck.
Here's an example of another scramble in tight, but Luongo stays big and stays off his stomach and lets his reflexes do the work instead of desperation.

But dude, he's playing so well! Notice how I don't mention anything specific he has done well.

So... Barker is actually okay in the offensive zone. He's a wreck everywhere else.

Passing the puck right down the middle is one of the easiest ways to give it away, when your goalie isn't even near the net that's even more dangerous....

he's actually looked pretty decent in the offensive zone (when he's not pinching like a dumbass), at least he can get a shot on net

Yep, it's kind of like playing a forward back on the point.

Really liking Booth with Kassian tonight, seem to be developing some chemistry. Time for AV to split them up.

Nice play by Booth there, good forecheck to get the puck and setup Lapierre nicely.

If we are talking about the same play, it was a tape-to-tape pass by him to start the rush despite how dangerous your biased eyes felt it was.

No. Defensively Alberts is better. He's at least in position and reading the play fairly well. He also supports his partner better on breakouts. He's still a 7th D but by comparison Barker isn't even an NHL defenseman.

Sadly if Barker gets another point tonight or the next game..some will argue that he has more points than Ballard therefore he should play..If I remember correctly one of the worst defencemen between lockouts had 1G2A in a game or two Yannick Tremblay...I'm a Ballard supporter, but Barker's D has been meh to Subpar tonight.
