Anyone know if Hall is out for sure or is it still a gametime decision?

Must win tonight if we want to stay in the playoff mix. Let's hope they can pull it off. Sure sucks that Hall is out.

I won't be watching tonight because I am done with Minny games. Can't wait for that team to get out of our division. Wild fans deserve much better than the clog up the neutral zone garbage they have had to watch since they got a team back.

Not me, Smyth and Eager being the 3rd and 4th line LWs respectively is my favorite part about the line changes so far.

Same here, that line's speed would give the opposition fits and it has looked good in the past. I guess the one benefit to breaking them up and having them on separate line is that each line has a speedy guy on it with a slower guy instead of one line having Petrell and Smyth neither of which are overly fast.

Good for Whitney to get into another game, hopefully he continues his play from last game. Hopefully Fistric just needs a bit of a rest from minor injuries as we'll miss him on our blueline if he's out for an extended period of time.

Based on what? Eager at this point brings more to the table than Smyth does.

Point production, defensive play and all around hockey ability...?

Eager is a good skater who hits sometimes. That's sort of it right now.

Smyth has 5 points in his last 7 games. He's been solid since coming back from being a healthy scratch.

yeah smyth has been good since being scratched, but eager plays the type of game we need more of .... i agree that smyth is still the better choice between the two of them at this point

So much for Kreuger's duos.
I like the look of that 64-93-83 line, but I hope they don't have to play much against Mikko Koivu's line because that could get ugly.

Edit: The hate for Hall is spicy in the minny GDT. Tempted to go in there and post a bunch of youtube clips of Clutterbuck being a dirtbag, is the ban/infraction worth it?

Eager's speed on the forecheck, intimidation on the forecheck, toughness, hitting, and decent hands for a player of his type not to mention he is the only player of his type on the team. Smyth has been better, however Eager didn't need a wakeup call like Smyth did to get his ass in gear this season.

That would be trolling, if you want to do that then do it on the main board which would be completely within the rules and within your right.

The way Eberle has been playing this year I'm no fan of putting him together with Gagner. (ignoring 8 pt game) and this line, with Paajarvi compounds lack of physial intensity and would be an easy line to play against that could get running around a lot. Thank heavens we didn't try this line against Dallas, Pho, or STL.

But I'm not convinced its such a great idea going forward.

As far as topline maybe its the thing RNH needs but right now I'm seeing a whole bunch of random molecules on that line. Hopefully theres some covalent bonds forming..

Allright now we are talking, those are substantial line changes that look better, not the best but better. Hemmer will still do the same thing to Nuge as he did to Gagner, dominate puck possesion and Yakupov is no better off if Nuge has the puck the same amount of times and in the same positions as Sam did, ha ha ha, Ralph just refuses to put MPS-Gagner-Yakupov together, ha ha.

The 1st line will now be dominant, all Ralph did was use the dynamic template I used , he gave Gagner and MPS a shooter, the only difference between the line I suggested above and this one is that he used a more NHL established triggerman in Ebbs, but dynamicly he is creating exactly what I outlined for the 2nd line since the 3rd game of this year when I saw the weakness dynamicly and the need to get 3rd line goals from Hemmer and began to harass Ralph, this line WILL dominate, not just compete, Yakupov will fit better than Ebbs though and I wouldnt be surprised to see him end up there before the second period. MPSs speed ,size, natural defensive awareness and zone transition ability will be a perfect fit for Gagner and Ebbs, now we can see Sam and Jordan both present a dual shooting threat and be supported by a defensive forward, one who can create lots of space during zone transitions.

I cant predict the score without knowing how Ralph will be activating his first defensive zone exits. But on a lark it looks to me like a potential old fashioned blowout, this will be a real test for MPS physically and he is ready. This is an all-in by Ralph and he has allowed someone to add Intuative Dynamic Analysis to his line combos, this is immediatly apparent and it is definately a new perspective. The combos look good to me, now we need to see how the coaches start the game and engage the Wild with line and tactical adjustments, and this will start immediatly. Congratulations to Ralph for adding the Intuative Dynamic Analysis and for taking such a big risk for his personality profile, this is a huge step for him. I will be on the GDT with everyone else trying to be as supportive as we can.

7-2 Oilers, these dynamiclly matched line combos as opposed to earlier statisticlly matched line combos should produce more chemistry and significantly better results offensively. First line should dominate and 2nd line should still score about the same pace, Hemmer dictates that on the 2nd line not the centerman.

Well, let's just say I don't share the opinion of most of HFOil that Smyth is completely useless or even bad.

Despite Smyth's new found reputation of being a player who constantly takes bad penalties, Eager is worse. 2/3 of Smyth's 30 PIMs this year came from two games. One from a night where he got 3 minors (two of which everyone watching/covering the game knew were unwarranted), and the other where he got a 10 minute misconduct for giving the ref **** for handing out a BS unsportsmanlike conduct penalty to Yakupov. If you ask me, that was more defense of a teammate than anything Eager has done to date as an Oiler.

Smyth is also infinitely more capable both offensively and defensively than Ben Eager. Eager is a big body who is hard to move from in front of the net, but he is incapable of making anything happen once he's there.

Overall, I've been much happier with Eager's game this year than I have at any other point, but really all he does is hit. He's a great skater, but the only thing he does with it is hit people. That's fine for a 4th line energy player, but not a shut-down line, which I think Smyth-Belanger-Jones would be very effective at.

In fact, aside from the powerplay, how many one-timers (or even opportunities for one-timers) do you even see in a game? Not enough to justify the trade-off in just about every other area of the game, I'd guess.
