Those numbers aren't even that good.

To be fair, though, he's apparently worth a 1st rounder now according to the trade board

Now if Anaheim steps it up and decides to put a huge offer on the table then I can see him staying...but I'd be surprised as would most people around here.
Interesting... we'll see what TSN says in the next few days.

It is really not so much wishful thinking on my part, because I see no way in hell he comes here at those numbers and baring just that I actually like him well in Anaheim. Sure don't need him in the division.

I just think it is hard to tell, whether this deal tells us Anaheim can afford to spend 16.5m on two players for the next 8 years or whether not being able to get anywhere with Perry made them more desperate and somewhat loser with the money regarding Getzlaf. Could be either.

Dorsett with a broken clavicle on that play. Done for the season.

That sucks. He always stands out when I watch the Jackets. He seems to leave everything out there on the ice. Lots of heart and effort with that guy. Wish him a speedy recovery.

Wow!! 8.25 for Getzlaf. He's a fantastic player, but man is that a lot of money.

What's Perry going to end up making? 8.5-9? There goes my pipe dream.

So, with the reaction here on Getzlaf's contract, I take it people rate Eric Staal ahead of him? Because they signed the exact same deal...Getzlaf signing it when the cap was headed south too, and 8 years was the most he could get.

I really don't think it's that bad. Under Boudreau, Getzlaf will produce.

Staal/Getzlaf are going to be the normal numbers for star contracts now...you can't sign a guy until he's 42 anymore and you're going to pay to buy out 8 years of unrestricted free agency. This deal takes him until just after his 36th birthday and you're going to have to pay for those quality years instead of pegging on a couple $1 million seasons late in his 30s/early 40s.

Just my guess.
Shattenkirk and McDonagh as well for sure.

Faulk, Bogosian, Carlson, Carle, Goligoski, Leddy, Fowler, Martin, and Byfuglien are some other possible names who might climb the depth chart ladder between now and then.

This. There'll also be less players like this. Will be hard for the top teams to keep all their talent together I think.

Dubnyk just allowed a goal that even Fleury would think is a softy. The shot was literally taken from center ice. A little bit of a bad bounce but still...

Edmonton are hilarious.

And Nugent-Hopkins kind of isn't very good.

Great that EDM has all that young talent, but that is such a poorly configured team.

There's a lot of Blackhawk fans in Colorado tonight, I wonder if Adrian Dater has anything to say about that.

So I'm guessing Edmonton is like Toronto, they dont really care about putting together a winning team since they are sold out for the next 100 years?

Shows how strange hockey can be sometimes. You play 7 games with Evgeni frickin' Malkin and can't score. You play one game in Nashville and you do score.

Anyway, I think he actually may fit in well with Nashville. He seems like the type of castoff reclamation project that they'd do well with. He just wasn't an upgrade over Kunitz or Dupuis on line one. He wasn't the type of player Malkin or Neal need with them on line two and he isn't a 3rd/4th line checking player. He just didn't fit here but I wish him the best.
