Real classy moves in the past from players?

What are things that some players did or said that were of so much class that you remember?

Good calls thus far, I guess you can say Sakic's gesture of giving the Cup to Bourque was also classy. How about Cujo's continuing his excessive charity work in Toronto after he left the Leafs?

-Larry Robinson donning Peter Sykora's jersey when the Devils won the Cup vs. Dallas

-even though i am not a wings fan, classy was having Scotty Bowman lace up the skates and have a brief lap with the Cup

-NYR and Flyers ending a preseason game after 2 periods and subsequent handshake (around 9/11)

for the sarcastic, cracksmoker.com has a large collection of all sorts of classy moves from players, ranging from what's his name to who's it's.

This may not be remembered all that much but I've always admired the fact that Lafleur gave up his all star appearance for a young Joe Sakic in 1989 or something.

Joe Sakic getting the ref to fix an imaginary rut in the ice so the crowd in Vancouver could give Linden a standing ovation for his record of points.

The annual Flyers' Wives "Fight for Life" Carnival has been going on for about 30 years with millions of dollars raised for many charities focusing on those to fight cancer and blood diseases. It involves the team's players, front office and others in addition to the great job the wives do.

Agreed, I hadn't heard of that moment, but I can just imagine.

What a shame that a guy like him is associated with the economic problems the game faces today.

Forgive me, for I may be messing up the specifics, but here's another Sakic story: on the way home after the bitter loss to Edmonton in the playoffs back in 98(?), Sakic and his wife stopped to help a woman who was having some sort of car trouble.

Sykora was injured earlier in the game and was taken to the hospital for observation. I believe he suffered a concussion. The guys brought his jersey out onto the bench as a kind of talisman and when the game was over and Jersey won, Larry Robinson pulled Sykora's jersey on over his dress shirt and wore it out on to the ice. It was a nice moment.

But I think we've come to expect nothing less from the esteemed Montreal Canadiens franchise.

I thought that was silly looking.

Bowman is a nominee for classless acts: yelling at Claude Lemieux in front of his family in a parking lot, scaring the hell out of the family, in a tirade he later at least apologized for.

This wasn't something done by the players... but Jacques Martin stepping aside to let Roger Neilson coach his 1000th game near the end.
