Just brush up on the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners.
Jays made a couple of big trades, and they look to be contenders.
You will probably see the name R.A. Dickey and Jose Reyes a lot.

I personally know a lot of Mariners fans here, due to the proximity of the team.
They only have Felix Hernandez, but that is probably all you need.

Nobody really watch the NBA anymore, at least with the people I know.
Just do a quick research on Jeremy Lin, and superstars like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant.
That should be enough to tie you over.

It is probably sales.

Twitter really helps with outside knowledge of other sports, so I have heard about the Blue Jays and their offseason. I'll read up on both the Mariners and Jays on wikipedia though.

My dad watches the NBA, and since we're Chinese, I have heard of Jeremy Lin.

Thanks for the pointers!

Clippers lost a deciding fifth and deciding game 2 - 1 after going up 2 - 0 in their series versus Alberni Valley.

Out of a crowd of 1600 or so, four hundred of them were Alberni Valley fans, enough fan support to allow the Bulldogs to salute the crowd at the end of the game.

Nanaimo sucks. But at least there's more hockey here in a month (and more work for me!).

Grizz won in sudden death OT after both teams had to take the ferry from Powell River -> Earl Bay, bus to Langdale -> Horseshoe Bay, drive to Tsawwassen -> Swartz Bay. They arrived in Vic at 450pm for a 730pm start after the ferries to Comox were cancelled.

Starting was a monster, pretty much won the game himself. GWG was scored 11 mins into OT by the Captain on a sweet toe drag.

Grizz take on Alberni Valley for Island Conference title starting Friday for a best of 5 series.

Yaaaaaay!

Looking forward to it. One-handed typing with a baby on my chest was how I spent the 2010 playoffs.

The hockey was good, but not that good.

I'd be more worried about the beard. I unfortunately did not inherit my father's ability to grow an awesome man-beard.

Ugh I feel your pain.

In my case it also only grows on one side of my face.

My facial hair growing skills are weak.

It's eerily similar to Toews' playoff beard.

I want to be Paul Mara

Alright, let's not veer too far off, here.

And wow, Paul Mara - that's incredible. His face is at least 60% hair.
