sorry, but players who play under 10 minutes and are willing to fight for a paycheck are a dime a dozen. the AHL are filled with them.

People are undervaluing Brown; the Oil are a tougher team to play against now.

Man, people are harsh today lol on this trade for Oilers. It was a good trade for both teams. We needed a roster spot free and Oilers added a great skating 3rd/4th liner who hits anything that moves and fights.

Reading this thread, you would think Oilers just traded a 2nd pick.

No it isn't for sure. Mike Brown is not going to stop anyone from running Taylor Hall.

Agreed. We may have got slightly more than his value but Brown is a solid 4th liner and he'll be effective at what he does for the Oilers. He's got more speed than the average 4th line player and can work the PK if necessary.

I like Orr but lets be honest Brown is better then Orr and Orr is a UFA. He better re signed now cause this team CANNOT be allowed to turn soft. This trade is a step in that driection If I was our coach I'd be PISSED

Good trade for both teams although I'm surprised to an extent the Leafs traded Brown. He was a fan favorite in Toronto. I see why they did it though. Too many bottom-six forwards and he was the expendable one. I, for one, am happy Brown's out of the Northeast.

I like it for Edmonton though. He's a good bottom-six guy and a guy that drops the mitts regularly. They can really use that kind of energy he brings. Leafs get a pick for someone who might not have been playing soon and everyone is happy.

Can someone change the title since the pick is conditional?

You mean Mike Brown isn't going to stop Taylor Hall from running anyone.

Pretty sad state of affairs when you have to pay a team what will be a low third for Mike Brown. I guess it doesn't matter for the Oilers because they can't draft past the 1st overall, but damn that's got to be the most useless trade in history. Don't you have 50 Mike Browns in your system?

LOL we had him for a while, and we traded him for the immortal Nathan McIver. That's what we thought of him!

This may have been mentioned before, but in addition to Brown/Orr/MacLaren up front, Mark Fraser has established himself on defense as a player who is tough and can take a regular shift, kill penalties, etc.

Remember the McDonagh for Gomez trade? Montreal probably could have got him on waivers too.

McGrattan won't be fighting Brown. McGrattan won't be fighting any Oilers. He also likely won't even be in the line up in the BOA.

Good trade for both teams. Probably been said before but Brown had no room on the team once Frattin and Lupul returned. He's a good 4th liner though and I'm sure will become a fav on the oil. 4th round pick isn't going to hurt them at all, people who are complaining about this just need to step away from the keyboard and take a breather.

All the best brownie, I'm going to miss you and your wonderful mustache!

It's hard being an Oiler fan on these boards aha, not only do we have to put up with our team being an annual loser, but we have to take constant crap on hf. We definitely need someone like Brown though, having guys like Smyth, Belanger, blah blah in our bottom six is not working.. We need more traditional bottom six guys and from the sounds of it Brown is one. Definitely won't be a fix to our problems but its a small step.

Wow, I've never seen people overrating a 4th rounder so much in my life.

Brown is better than a "scrub" and this is a more than reasonable price to pay for him.

They put in a claim for Volpatti but Washington took him first.
