Vancouver - Colorado

Ryan O'Byrne

Andrew Alberts

I very rarely make trade proposals, but I feel like this might be a realistic trade. I'm not sure what the Avalanche needs are, but for the Canucks they get a depth right handed defenseman in exchange of a depth defenseman. The logic I see for the Avalanche is they get a similar player and shake up their d corps.

Oh and for what it is worth, O'Byrne is from Victoria.

I know a trade between these two teams is unlikely, but this is a trade that seems balanced and doesn't seem to change either team for the better or worse.

Thoughts? Am I way off?

As a Canucks fan, I'd do it. Seems lateral for the Avs though.

O'Byrne is essentially Albertsbut better, bad move for Colorado.

I would do it though.

I think Avs are more likely to want a pick when they trade one of their depth defenders.

No thanks. Would rather have a pick than Alberts. You can keep him.

Alberts has zero value IMO. O'Bryne has little value but Alberts won't get you him, I would give a 4 th or 5 th tops for O'Bryne.

Or would Colorado be interested in either Barker or Vandermeer instead of Alberts? Picks are available on Canucks' end I believe.

3rd Rounder if you re-sign him, 4th if you don't.

I'd do it, but we would need to lose one of Barker/Alberts.

Sounds about right.

O'Byrne hasn't had the best year, but Avs defense is a bit of a mess as a whole. Pair him with a decent puck mover and he'll be fine.

So waive them, we don't want or need one of them. Frankly, I think O'Byrne will fetch a bit more at the deadline when a team looks for some physicality on the backend, maybe as high as a conditional 2nd.
