Stl-fla

To STL:
Dmitry Kulikov
Stephen Weiss

To FLA:
David Perron
Kris Russell
Ty Rattie
*Possible conditional 3rd round pick if STL re-signs Weiss?

Is that fair value and would this be a trade these clubs could/would do?

I originally had Cole instead of Russell in mind but thought that may be overpayment on STL end of things.

Florida will laugh....They expect a pretty decent return for Weiss alone and they value Kulikov pretty high still and he is very young, St Louis has to add probably a first round pick.

I'd do it if it was a conditional 2nd.

Perron and Rattie for Kulikov

Russell and a 2nd for Weiss

you'd need more than Russel + Rattie, but you've got a good start with Perron

Pass, rather not trade Kulikov. Unless its for someone like Bobby Ryan etc.

Basically. If Weiss resigns, I'd be fine making it a 1st, otherwise it's a 3rd, just another idea.

Have to think the Blues would re-sign Weiss if they were giving that package up (and he's a C which is needed in that lineup going forward).

Breaking down, I looked at it as:
Perron + Rattie for Kulikov
Russell + 3rd for Weiss

FLA may want more for Kulikov so could make that pick a conditional 1st in that case.

That package does absolutely nothing at all for us.

Weiss has serious work ethic issues. I'd rather sign Arnott honestly. I'd do Perron +1st/Cole/Rattie for Kuli if he were available though.

I live down here and go to most Cats games. To say it does nothing is just untrue. Russell has great transition defense game, Perron has a terrific contract and is a very skilled offensive player.
Rattie is a top offensive prospect, and the pick only helps boost a strong prospect pool.

Now, I CAN see the Cats saying in this case they'd rather have Cole than Russell, but the value is fairly close.

No. He's having a bad year.

Florida would get criticized up the wa-zoo if we made this trade.

No.

No, he's always been one of the hardest workers on the team. Something is wrong this season. Supposedly his grandma was ill for awhile and just passed, but no one is really sure what the issue is.

Florida won't move Kulikov, but the package is better than some of you think.

Yea I specifically meant this year. I didn't know about any personal issues, and I wish him the best. I don't see how a trade could change anything though, so from a hockey sense I don't think he'd have much value to the Blues.

You're right about the value being fairly close or at least not as far off as some might think. It's still not enough though. Perron is a quality forward, Ty Rattie is a very good prospect, but the other two pieces don't do very much for Florida. With Russel, the pick pretty much has to be a 1st rounder imo.

Kulikov isn't untouchable by any means, especially since he's not Tallon's pick. Still, I doubt the Panthers are willing to move him for anything else than a significant offensive upgrade or an overpayment.

The Blues are set to sign Jason Arnott later this week, so it is very doubtful they will be seeking another C. They need a top pairing left defenseman still. What top pairing left handed defenseman (with size) can Florida offer, and who would they want in return?

Yeah I agree with you here. I think it makes sense but I'd rather have Cole myself. Drop any picks coming back to FL for sure. Or, FL could even include a prospect to help even out the deal a bit (maybe Connor Brickley, former 2nd rounder).

Kulikov is that top pairing LHD. He isn't that monster physical presence, but he's exactly the partner for Pietrangelo the Blues need.

Lot of chatter that if STL makes a move, its Perron that is going. Was just looking at the FLA trade option for discussion bc Weiss (C) and Kulikov (LHD) would settle the Blues biggest issues...
AND
The Blues have quite a few young, cost-controlled players/prospects that would fit nicely with what FLA is trying to do.

i dont mind trading kulikov for offensive assistance, but id probably like to wait till the off season because if we draft mackinnon or barkov (or even lindholm or monahan) id like to trade him for a winger (preferably a rw), so id seriously consider a perron package. but if we draft drouin or jones or someone who isnt one of those top centers then id try to package him for a strong center. he just got injured anyways, dont know how long he'll be out for. if we draft one of the centers id strongly consider the perron + 1st at the draft.

This proposal isn't going anywhere, and neither is
Dmitry Kulikov, but he sure would look good in a Blues uniform.
