Perry to MTL

Gionta+Moen+1rst+ Leblanc (Or other prospect of equal value)

Anaheim gets 2 roster players. One top 6 forward + bottom 6 player + 1rst (20-30) range and a good prospect that needs a change of scenery.

Too much ? To little ?

Quantity for quality, and our quantity isn't even that good.

Gionta has little value.
Moen hasn't been good, and has very little value.
1st is looking to be a mid-late 1st rounder.
Leblac has very little value.

All that for half a season of Perry? way too much of an overpayment. Wait till the free agent market opens up and get him then if anything.

this isn't going to end well. Habs are NOT going to give anaheim the house for 30+ games of Perry. Better off trying to poach him in the summer and trading for size with lesser talent now - that won't cost as much

Perry wants to play with Giroux, Giroux wants to play with Perry

Only way Habs get Perry is this summer if he 's a UFA; they'd bankrupt the future to get him via trade.

Yeah, I'm certain that's it. Of course there is that wee little dilemma of Perry getting his first and only suspension in his NHL career, for driving his elbow through Giroux's chin. I get this nagging feeling, that Perry might not like Giroux.

Ducks have no need for Moen or Gionta. If Ducks trade Perry it will be for package involving a young roster player + picks or prospects.

I'm surprise people like Perry. He fights with everyone on the ice.

You're entirely right; those pieces aren't attractive enough for Anaheim.

I think that if we were to ever trade for Perry this year, the Ducks would ask for Gallagher, our First round pick and a little something else, and we would definitely pass.

Just wait if/ until July at offer him 7-8M a year

IMO he is coming East if he is leaving the Ducks, Mtl/Ott/Tor/

Close to home, a lot of games where his family can go see him, or watch him play much easier.

i wouldn't be so sure about that...

Playoff revenue is a big incentive for any team, but especially teams like Anaheim... not too mention the fan base/relevancy bump of at least being in the playoffs, let alone going deep.

while from a pure long-term hockey point of view, would make sense to auction Perry off to the highest bidder at the deadline (assuming they are convinced they can't re-sign him) in a picks/prospects sense, given how well they've been doing & yet being only 9pts up on the 8th spot, losing a vital piece of their team with 11 games (or more) remaining without getting a player or two that can contribute immediately might not get the ownership ok...

interesting to see what happens.

From habs pov, that offer is the absolute most I'd consider.
Perry could up and bolt after the year anyway, so probably best to wait to the summer and go after him for free rather than give up assets & mess with team chemistry without any certainty of keeping him long-term.

Would love to see him in Toronto but I just have a suspicion he has Detroit or Montreal written all over him.

I hope so, and on Mtl side its lining up to be a perfect fit, we have ton of cap space, he grew up a Habs fan, wants to come closer to home, but I aint getting my hopes up too much

Detroit is interesting, they have money to offer, Det is close to home, and IMO if they moved to the eastern conference, would be ideal, no media pressure + being close to home in the sense that they would be playing a lot in ET time zone and more Eastern teams. But I've read that Perry and the Ducks have always hated the Wings.

Anaheim would never accept another call from Montreal, if that offer were presented. The 2 roster players are not enough for Anaheim to bite. Yes, I know Perry is a rental, but better roster players, or younger and less expensive ones, would have to go towards Anaheim for them to even think about it.

Too little, to be more direct in my reply.

If traded tho, I think his return might not be as good as some ppl think, just using the Kovy trade to Devils as an example, and Hossa trade to Pens.

I believe both were 1st round picks, a prospect and roster player.

IMO if i compare the players team the Devils and Pens gave up, for Mtl it would be a 1st Leblanc, and a player like Diaz.

Its to the point where the Ducks are better off keeping him for the playoffs.

Theres not a single appealing piece to Anaheim in this pacakage. The first isnt even that appealing seeing where it will end up.

From Mtl, judging by what elite rentals have gone for at the deadline, Id imagine Murray would ask for something like Descharnes/Eller, Beaulieu, 1st.
