I can't imagine it being more than 2M per year. I'm fairly confident he won't get Jeff Finger money!

depends on price, but if it's 1-1.5m a year for two years I have no problem with it, solid 3rd pairing guy.

resign fraser and kostka for cheap too, we need cheap guys to fillout the defense.

Yeah pretty safe to say as this is Holzer's first NHL season and he was a pending RFA. I'm guessing he'll slide in well under 2mil pretty easily. 1.5 seems about right. Maybe even 1-1.25.

I like him on the pk. His big body does a good job at blocking shots.

In terms of speed and decision making and passing and shooting ... Well ****

He's young and there's lots of room for improvement. You know what they say about old dogs... Holzer is a pup that can definitely be trained. Unlike a certain mutt from West Islip, NY.

Hell, I'd give him 2M a year just for having the name Korbinian!

Clearing out the majority of rebounds? There is exactly one defenceman on the Leafs with a positive Corsi. Holzer is by far the worst regular in this regard with a -19.81. He gets outshot to a ridiculous degree because he is constantly penned in his own zone. The PDO ratings on this team are astronomical, led by Fraser's staggering 1132. The Leafs are loaded with 7th defencemen. For once I would like to see the team be proactive instead of reactive. If we brought players like Gardiner and Liles into the lineup we would have more scoring chances. Because Reimer and Scrivens have both been hot, these problems are not obvious. On the basis of this goaltending we'll likely make the playoffs this season. But next season is far from certain if we don't make clear upgrades to our defence.

Holzer deal in TOR is $725K and $850K over next two years. AAV is $787.5K. Was scheduled to be Group 6 UFA this summer.

Great signing!

I always ask those who quote Corsi numbers you did see that last week he was a -31 so he has improved a lot during his rookie season. People who think he should be a top pairing d as a rookie really should get back to blaming Bozak for not being an elite 1c

Holzer is a good value player. Durable, young and highly trade-able, letting him go would be nonsense.

He's not a third pairing defenceman and that's the problem. The best thing you can say about this extension is that it's no money. But he's not NHL caliber. He's 25, not some fresh faced 20 year old in his first pro year. Holzer's been playing pro hockey for eight years.

under 800k allows Nonis to make some big free agent signings. Komi or Lisles will be bought out

I'm very happy about this, it's good to get it over and done with so we won't have to worry about it later when we've got more important extensions to deal with.

Good work Nonis!

Komisarek is the easiest decision Nonis could make. The Leafs need to forget about Perry and go fishing for two top UFA d-men (though I admit I haven't taken a gander at this year's crop yet).

I wonder what Mark Fraser expects to get after seeing that. It can't be too much more, let me tell you.

If there was anyone worth having, you'd already know about it. Once upon a time, Komisarek was also one of the "top UFA" dman.

It's a fine signing. Needed to get it done regardless of where he falls in terms of the future.

Of course I'd still send him down to the Marlies so we could get Gardiner back up. If they aren't going to play Liles need guys who can move the puck already.
