your entitled to your opinion but I would rather have both, having one over the other doesn't improve the team as a whole ... FYI Perry at 10 is setting him up for some major criticism once Leaf Nation gets to see him game in game out and dissect his imperfections as a player, criticism that could very well make him be a 10 million $ long term mistake. Just saying that's a huge risk one I wouldn't do at that number but that's just me.
Having said that would love to see a Perry with Kadri and Frattin
Perry at 9m just means we would have to reshape the way our team looks, kind of drastically Mock lineup assuming we manage to sign Perry (at 9m) and rough estimates of other players we would resign:
Lupul (5.25) - Kadri (3) - Perry (9) ---- top line
JVR (4.25) - McClemant (1.5) - Kulemin (2.8) ------shutdown line
MacArthur (3.25) - Bozak (3) - Frattin (.925) ------ sheltered scoring
McLaren (1) - Komarov (1.3) - Orr (1) ------pesky don't want to mess with line
Extras: Dunno? Some Marlies players is quite possible. Maybe sign a center so Komarov can play on the wing. Regardless, 2 players, lets assume 2.5m for the both of them.
Phaneuf (6.5) - Holzer (0.8)
Franson (2.5) - Fraser (1.3)
Gunnar (2.5) - Gardiner (1.2)
Extra: Rielly? Or some other guy we sign (Kostka?). Assume 2m.
Traded is Kessel + Grabo/Liles
Compliance Buyout is Grabo/Liles + Komi
Total cap hit is:
38.775 for forwards
16.8 for defense
2.4 for goalies
58m for the team
60m including tucker/armstrong buyouts
That extra 4m can be used to:
- find a way to save a little bit more and keep Kessel/Grabo for at least 1 year.
- improve the defense, not sure how what I listed would hold up over a full season
- use it to sign the players I did sign to more money if I underestimated
- Do nothing and keep the cap space available for future raises such as Reimer/Frattin.

Reason: forgot about the buyouts
