You and I both know if he hits, fights, plays well on D but only pots 25-30 goals, people are going to be on his case because he's making Crosby like money. The expectation will be a PPG player.

If Kristo is in our top6 next year, we're in deep trouble.

He possibly meant "top-six" in Hamilton... ???

As for Perry, ther is 99,99999% chance he will never sign with the Habs.

You would have probably said the same thing about Gallagher exactly a year ago. You never know.

Problem is we now have talent that is signed short term. PK, Eller, DD,Emelin and Diaz have contracts expiring after this season or next and they will be in for big raises at this rate. If we want to have a top 5 in the the top 4 on D, so that you include Diaz then we wont have that much to spend as it might appear now. If we are moving Diaz out and replacing him with a $1M or so kind of guy then we should have the money to run at Perry.

Not re-signing Diaz for 2014-15 and beyond may be the smart play regardless of if we get a big fish or not. Nice player, but I would not give him 4-5 M per on a LT deal, especially if Beaulieu is ready.

The Subban/Eller/Emelin raises will be covered by Gionta's expiring contract and Markov hopefully signing for a lower cap hit. Plus there are a lot of rumblings teams are expecting the cap to grow for the 2014-15 season since revenues have not been impacted by the lockout.

Ryder hasn't been that bad. Had a rough game, but the guy has still been a part of 4 goals directly since coming here...

He could be a PPG player. He has been in the past and is this season.

He has defended himself in the past, but i wouldn't say he fights.

I'd offer 8M$ for Perry, when Galchenyuk will have developed to his full-potential we would have the most talented offensive squad in the league.

I would think he would need a year in the AHL.

and when he fails to become a PPG player and/or goes streaky, how long until you cry that he's overpaid for his lack of production?

Kristo is playing as an over aged player in a sub-par league. No one knows how good or bad he is yet.

Came across this, not sure if it was discussed but.

"HC insider Doug MacLean explains that Calgary Flames defenceman Jay Bouwmeester's hefty price could make him difficult to move, but the Montreal Canadiens might take a chance because of the Rick Dudley connection. But could struggling New Jersey be in the market as well"
http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/n...eyeing-iginla/

While I have always liked J-Bo, I wouldn't touch him with that contract especially with PK getting a big pay increase after next season.

Bouwmeester would be an interesting addition to the back end. His contract ends after next season so it wouldn't interfere with PK's extension. It would limit our ability to add pieces to next year's team however. Bouwmeester's never played a playoff game in his career though. As good a season as he'd been having he's been known to crumble under the pressure.

He is paid as a No.1 D-man, and he isnt. He doesnt fit into our D, unless you are cutting loose, PK or Markov. Like Cubes, but the piece we need to add in the next couple of years is a big, bad, crease clearing defensive D-man, like ahh, hopefully Tinordi.
