Leaf fan here...your team needs a coach that knows what he's doing....playing yakupov on 3rd 4th line is just pure rubbish...dallas eakins would be the perfect coach for your team, considering what he did with the marlies in developing youngsters like kadri and veterans like fraser

That's it. No player in the league wants to come here, lest they catch the culture of losing that permeates from the once-great City of Champions. There is a rotten stink in the dressing room of the Oilers hall of glory.
You wouldn't guess once that the dynastic 80's Oilers or the hard-working tough-as-nails 90s ones once laced up in there.

Not even once.
Exactly, the culture of losing has perneated this team and is affecting the young players.

I am even missing the late 90's early 00's teams that had very little talent but showed up every game

I shall start quoting poetry to explain my emotions on the Oilers. Today ee cummings, because **** just don't make sense.

you shall above all things be glad and young
For if you're young, whatever life you wear

It will become you;and if you are glad
whatever's living will yourself become.
Girlboys may nothing more than boygirls need:
i can entirely her only love

whose any mystery makes every man's
flesh put space on;and his mind take off time

that you should ever think, may god forbid
and (in his mercy) your true lover spare:
for that way knowledge lies, the foetal grave
called progress,and negation's dead undoom.

I'd rather learn from one bird how to sing
than teach ten thousand stars how not to dance

Cool. Unfortunately we're completely helpless here... and the organization will be content as long as Rexall Place is full to the brim every night.

At this point I'd take an inanimate object for a coach.

I am deeply amused. So far, on tencers show and here, Horcoff's name has come up as being part of the problem-- he is injured and still getting blamed.

Last year this board complained when the kids were not playing enough and we blamed the vets and this year they are are playing more and some are still blaming the vets.

For me this is a fun time to be an oiler fan becuase I seperates the true fans from those who are fair weather and flimsy. Aslo, for me, it seperates those who have a grasp on how to look on the development of the kids

Why some people were talking about playoffs at the start of the season was beyond me, the kids are developing and while we may not be winning--the kids are playing.

It has taken Gagner 5 years to start to show why he was drafted in the first round. Why some people thought that the kids would jump in and be world killers so quickly is rather funny.

I personally think we have too many kids playing at one time and should have delayed both Nuge and Yakupov a year from being in the NHL--but I was shouted down with this idea before. MPS should be on the farm right now, getting top 6 minutes. We are rushing the kids and as I stated before, I use Martin Gelinas as an example of what happens when you rush kids

How this team is 3 points out of a playoff spot is mind-boggling. I honestly can't remember the last time we put a 4 or 5 game streak of just playing well. I truly wonder what goes on in the locker room and/or in the players heads after all these losses.

Did Krueger just say if they continue to play like this this they'll win games? Is that what I heard?

How many horrible years do we seriously have to endure until we actually clean out the crap?

You can't blame the coach.

I flat out didn't like Renny. He didn't let the kids fly.
Pat Quinn was way too old school for us. He probably should have retired before coaching for Vancouver.
I hated Mac-T on so many levels. Sure he got us to the playoffs, but I couldn't stand him as a person or as a coach. He could've effectively coached Jersey when trapping was at an all time high.

You can't blame Tambo. When he was brought in he wasn't promoed as the general manager, but the new member of the management team.

You can complain all you like about the compete level of the players or the coaches decisions but in the end the guy at the top of the food chain is the guy who made it all happen.
The guy who was the manager who gave up picks for Penner, who we hated.
The guy who signed Souray who turned out to be poison for our organization.
The guy who signed Pisani, Torres and Horcoff to ******** contracts.
The guy who ejected all of our grit by trading Greene and Stoll.
The guy who tried to fool us into thinking that Macintyre was going to make a difference.
The guy who helped Strudwick keep a job in the NHL for a few more years than he should've had a job.
The guy who let GlenX go to our rival.
The guy who's drafting record reminds us of Glen Sather before the last lockout.
The guy who let face-off specialist Kyle Brodziak go for nothing.
The guy who does everything possible to stay out of the spotlight because he knows it's all his fault.

Kevin Lowe.

There are two things working against Tambo, #1 he over values some of our players and will only make a real deal he thinks is a big win.

The second thing is that I have a feeling he just has a bad rep amongst GM's. Both he and Lowe. The big tiff with a respected gm in Burke. (Fans may not like Burke but I think he had respect amongst gms.) The tiff with Reiger over the offer sheet. And more importantly the tiff with another respected GM in Lombardi who thought Tambo tried to screw him over.

Really the team is totally and utterly screwed because the old boys club has already paved the way for the next replacement on the horizon, that being MacT who would be just as much of a disaster as the present crew.

We are now at the point where it has been a detriment to the kids for playing in the AHL......we needed the team to get off to a really good start and hope the pp would keep us in games down the playoff stretch......most teams that did not have large amount of players playing during the lockout have shaken off the rust....while our top players have played an entire season and starting to physically wear down.....gonna take a miracle for this team to make a serious run at the playoffs....

This is one of worst performance in the last 2 years. That 1 pt was an ugly point that we didn't even deserve. We'll take it but if it wasn't for Mason, it's a 3-1 regulation loss.

A loss to the worst team in the league with the worst goaltending. It's pretty amazing that we made Boll looked like a skilled power forward and Jack Johnson looked like Chris Pronger.

But in all seriousness, Maggie the Monkey who used to do playoff picks for TSN would be a better GM.

Losing cultures only have ONE cure, and that's to completely change EVERYTHING and EVERYONE on the team and bring in players so that the new players outnumber the loser players. Smyth, Eager, Belanger, Hemsky, Horcoff, Whitney. STRIP everyone of any responsibility, especially Horcoff in a spectacular display of ANGER like a God smiting a cretin.

Then you march into the locker room with the owner and some important looking mofos and you make it crystal clear that there will be zero toleration for lazy mailed-in play, loser mentality, pouting, etc. and you lay down the consequences for doing so.

Yeah. That's what I'd do.
