Hawks and Jackets

To Columbus:

Stalberg
Morin
Pirri

To Hawks:
Brassard

Hawks get a number 2 center. Jackets get an up and coming LW who can fly and is a UFA after the season. Pirri does not appear to be able to get a chance in Chicago and Morin was one of the Key pieces in the Byflugien trade with the Jets. Two decent prospects and a Jacket killer for a #2 Center? Close, too far apart?

This is an easy yes for me.
I don't know where all the love went for Morin just because the Hawks got a couple more forward prospects.

Brassard is terrible

Not an upgrade over Bolland offensively , Worse defensively and pathetic at faceoffs (more pathetic then Bolland)

I would rather keep Morin then move him for a guy who doesn't improve team

No dice, if it's not an improvement over Bolland, there is no point in doing it.

If I believed Brassard would play to his potential I'd do it.

But don't think that would happen

All in all not too bad though OP

Columbus fans would probably drive Brassard to Chicago for that deal.

Hawk fans, run away from that deal.

Not exactly sure why the Hawks need to make a deal at this point. Why mess with the unbelievable chemistry you have right now?

I love it, but the Blackhawks would hate it.

Problem is the Hawks bottom two lines appear to be set without Bolland. Bolland has like 2 assists while playing with Kane and Sharp on the 2nd line. IMO, Bolland may be expendible, as much as I like his 3rd line abilities. Brassard still has untapped potential, and was the best player for Columbus when they played Chicago outside of Mason. Bolland and Brassard are not faceoff winners, sadly, but the offensive mindset Brassard would bring to that line would possibly make 2 #1 lines in Chicago, ala 2010. Stalberg, IMO, is playing himself out of Chicago since his contract demands will be high. Would I like to keep him? Yes. However, he is doing a phenominal job on the 3rd line and will require a significant payraise to keep him in Chicago. Pirri cannot seem to catch a break in Chicago and the Hawks have players like Smith, Hayes, Danualt, who all need spots next year. Morin seems to have been passed over on the depth chart with the top 6 pretty set. In this proposal I think Toews leadership could bring Brassard to the level his draft selection predicted him to be. If that happens, the Hawks would be even scarier with a true #2 center. I am sure at the deadline, the Hawks can acquire some faceoff help, worst thing this does is drop Bolland back to the #3 center role and allow the Rat to roam free without pressure of having to be relied on for offense.

I could careless about Morin and Pirri, but Brassard is not an improvement over Bolland on offense regardless of what kind of points he has, and he is a major downgrade defensively.

If we are trading Bolland, it's for a clear upgrade at #2 C, even then I wouldn't really want to do it.

Every team can stand to upgrade. Chicago needs 3 primary things now:

1) Center that wins FO (best if they can fill the #2 center role)

2) PWF or two to add some physicality.

3) a true #2 center

Which of these is Brassard?

If Columbus still had Vermette and it was him in this proposal instead of Brassard - then yeah I would do it. But not for Brassard.

Regarding Stalberg playing himself off this team - maybe, but the Hawks are in it to win it this season and Stalberg is a big piece of that. So let's worry about potentially losing Stalberg after the parade

Brassard doesn't win faceoffs.

Brassard isn't a PWF, with physicallity.

Brassard isn't a true #2C if Bolland isn't.

Yeah, we'd accept that.

It's almost certainly overkill in our favor. Not sure how I'd want to adjust it though. Do you guys need young second-tier blueliners?

I don't get why Chicago does this. That's way too much to give up for Brassard.

How about no?

Stalberg is a huge dynamic to the Hawks bottom six with his speed.

From everything I've read and heard about Brassard and his agent.. no way! Don't even want him for a 2nd round draft pick.

Also would add that Brassard has a poor cap hit for his underwhelming play

3.2M ,, With cap going down the Hawks shouldn't be bringing in a guy who is struggling as much as he is

Bozak is rumoured to be available and fits #1 and sort of #3. I'd say he's probably a #2.5 center on a good team.
