Oh boy, Cloquet and Duluth East going at it again. Intense rivalry there. Rooting for Cloquet to upset but Duluth East is a powerhouse again this year.

That's going to be a great game. Duluth East isn't the team they were last year and Cloquet is a really tough 4 seed with the Michauds and UMD commit Karson Kuhlman. If I had to choose I'd take East but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Cloquet pulled it off.

In the other semi in that section I think GR beats Elk River to set up a great final.

Games to keep an eye on tonight:

6AA- #4 Eden Prairie vs. #5 Holy Family
Eden Prairie is a very talented team that started the season ranked in the top 5 in the state but has underachieved all year. They have 3 D1 commits (Luc Snuggerud-UNO, Steven Spinner-UNO, Hunter Warner-MSU-Mankato) so far and if they get rolling they could be a tough out. The only problem is they play BSM next round if they win . Holy Family's program took a nice step but they're still young. They're led by two sophomores in Shane Gersich (UND commit and big time 2014 NHL draft prospect) and John Peterson. I don't think it's HF's time yet but they should be a real contender next year if Gersich sticks around; EP wins a high scoring game, 6-4.

2AA- #4 Bloomington Jefferson vs. #5 Holy Angels

Both of these teams have been powerhouses in years past but are down this year. Holy Angels can score but they are very top-heavy and don't play much defense. Mario Bianchi and Frankie Mork carry the load on offense for them. Jefferson is a pretty deep and balanced team led by Jono Lindquist and Colin Hernon. They've beaten some tough teams like Eden Prairie and Prior Lake and I think they win this one 4-2

Eagan seems to have a walkthrough of a section. Cretin finished strong, but they seem like a really weak 2- seed. Glienke was fantastic in the Hockey Day game (the only time I saw them play); noticeable on every shift, and seemed to be out there a ton. What are his college prospects? Seemed to come out of nowhere but had a huge year and is definitely big enough to compete at the next level.

He committed to Maine recently and should get drafted this year. He didn't necessarily come out of nowhere, he was just overshadowed because Eagan had a such a strong senior class last year. He's a huge kid and was really dominant this year.

There are some tickets in play for my father - we'll see if guy is sick still or if he wants to go to all the big school sessions - so I might make a session or two.

Even if Maple Grove wins tomorrow they will most likely lose their ass to Centennial if they make it through

Not going this year for the first time in a long time. I'm up at BSU and we're hosting the Gophers the same weekend, so I'm staying up here... Will be following on TV, though.

Hopefully Princeton can make a racket in 5A, we split with Cathedral who beat Hermantown earlier in the year, so it's looking like the section tournament could be interesting for once. 3 top 11 teams in class A.

Was there covering the morning session today. Warroad vs. Blake should be a good matchup tomorrow. Warroad has two really talented players in Marvin (UND) and Gardner (UND) who rarely leave the ice. Marvin is the girls career state tourney scoring leader, so that should tell you how good she is and how good Warroad has been.

Blake's star is Dana Cameranesi (UM), not sure if she's any relation to Tony who played for Wayzata and now UMD.

Also, SSP had a Wilcox and a Palmquist whom I'm assuming are related to Adam Wilcox (UM) and Zach Palmquist (MSU-Mankato) since both went to South St. Paul.

Lots of familiar names at the X this morning.

If you're in the Twin Cities turn on channel 45, this game is in the 6th OT right now.

We played Holy Family and Gersisch had a hat trick in his first SHIFT. Kid is the real deal and that Peterson kid just dishes him left and right, with Gerischs shot most Hs goalies have no chance.

Especially in sections when these guys will double shift even more HF could surprise some people...

Edit-meant in the future years
