That's certainly one of the reasons. The problem is that the team refuses to sit him so we don't know how much suck can be attributed to an injury.

Sadly, this is the most unrealistic part of the trade.

A 1st and a prospect is a good return and Clowe could probably get that return.

I definitely see Clowe resigning in Boston too. He'd be much closer to home.

Yeah, I'm 100% sure he'd re-sign in Boston. Fits them to a T.

The way Clowe is playing, I'd offer Caron and a 2nd.

No one from the current Boston roster will be traded, except MAYBE Caron who I don't consider part of the "core." For Clowe Spooner/Koko are completely off the table for me. If getting Clowe would mean losing one of them, I'd glady move to Morrow for a mid round pick.

I'm thinking something along the lines of a 2nd rounder which turns into a 1st if the Bruins make the Cup Finals or something. Maybe throw a middling prospect to the Sharks to even out the contracts.

We can upgrade our third line without giving up top prospects.

We're in the same page TVT.

Koko and Spooner go nowhere unless a clear upgrade is coming in return

Something like this. I'd rather not give up Caron for depth purposes but it certainly wouldnt be a deal breaker.

Caron and a 1st is too much IMO. Does San Jose have any depth players (5/6 defensmen, bottom six forwards) who they can send the other way? I don't mind giving up the pick and Caron, but Caron is an NHL caliber depth player who could be valuable in the POs for depth.

I'd rather the Bruins go after a guy like Demers over Clowe.

Im sure Clowe will command a late first that is why i said two former second rd picks was fair value

I wouldn't trade either Spooner or Koko for late 1st round picks. Their value is higher than where they were drafted.

Spooner and Koko is a massive overpayment.

No NHL GM would consider 2013 Clowe, zero goals 22 games, @-4, and $4 mil salary, as premium trade target. They could view him as reclamation project, or lost cause, which entails lower return value.
