Yeah, I don't know, it seems like Bylsma just loves doing the 100% opposite of logic.

IcedCapp - Yeah, all of us should have known it, I had an idea but didn't want to believe it because of how stupid it sounded. But, what can you expect from a guy who gives Craig Adams and Tanner Glass shifts with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin

I have to wonder why they keep both Engelland and Bortuzzo at the same time. They both serve the same purpose, albiet Engelland is a better fighter.

Hard to get a gage on Eaton

First the Islanders didn't want him (but they wanted Strait)
Then it looked like WBS was benching him

Now hes replaced our most promising defensemen.

Bizarre world..

Shero brought in a vet Def for nothing who has played pretty well his first 2 games. Shero isn't the one who picks the starting lineup. Your pissed off at the wrong person. Comparing this to a drug dealer smoking crack makes no sense.

Yeah, but his injury would have been while he was on the 4th pairing while at practice. So it's still all their fault!

Listen, they need to send Simon Despres down to Wilkes Barre, young defensemen need ice time, he's playing awesome, he doesn't deserve to be benched at all, Eaton should have been brought in for depth purposes and depth purposes ONLY! NOT TO PLAY OVER OUR SOLID YOUNG DEFENSEMEN!

The problem is that playing in the AHL won't benefit him anymore. If I'm Shero, I talk to Bylsma and tell him if he's watching the same game as everyone else, he shouldn't be benching Despres. But maybe there's something going on behind the scenes that we aren't aware of. I don't see any reason why Despres should be benched.

Isn't it cool when your 7/8 pairing is better than your 5/6? Some depth.

And yeah we shouldn't be playing eaton every game. Give him some games here and there to get comfortable and then have him for depth for the playoffs. Fresher legs.

I think playing top pair minutes in the AHL is a lot better for him than a seat in the press box at an NHL game.

Me too, but knowing Dan Bylsma and the tweets I posted, it's Eaton-Engelland.

Btw, Despres left practice with a fingernail issue and Bylsma's lineup is "game time decision" dude I know what your lineup is.

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Bennett-Malkin-Neal
Cooke-Sutter-Kennedy
Glass-Vitale-Adams

Orpik-Martin
Niskanen-Letang
Eaton-Engelland

A couple times during the game we will see...

Glass-Malkin-Neal
Cooke-Malkin-Neal
Cooke-Crosby-Kennedy
Glass-Crosby-Adams
Bennett-Sutter-Kennedy
Bennett-Vitale-Neal

Apparently Despres sustained a very minor injury during skate. Not sure what his status is tonight.
From Yohe

But as others have pointed out, he was already the 7/8th in practice.

I'm just going to assume that the game lineup won't be the same or that Despres is being held out for an imminent trade (or injury). Because nothing else really makes much good sense.

Yes because the team has done great when Despres hasn't played.

I hope not, Despres has a big future on this team. Letang, Despres and Morrow should be the pillars of our defense in a few years. Move a guy like Orpik or a prospect like Harrington not Despres imo. Also with Letang and Malkin needing new contracts soon we need some guys with ELCs who can play at a high level.

#Pens Despres left morning with "small injury to his fingernail," per coach Bylsma. He would have returned but skate ended -SK

Could we please WAIT until the damn game until we jump off a bridge about practice lines? Maybe he's trying out Eaton-Engellend because Niskanen can go back with Letang now that Martin is back. Even with that, we have NO idea if those lines are what we will see ay 7pm.

no dude. I can only post once every 30 seconds. If I wait until 7pm to freak out, I'm not going to be able to properly freak out over Despres before the game causes me to freak out. You have to prioritize.

If I'm Shero, I'm telling Disco "You sit Despres again, and I'm exiling Kennedy and Glass to Saudi Arabia".

Dude....come on....it's Byslma.

Is he the coach that benches rookies or veterans?

The practice lines were posted by the media, Yohe said it looks like Despres and Bortuzzo are scratched tonight.

Eaton-Engelland is playing on the bottom pair.
