I'd be fine with a Clowe/Gionta swap if you guys ate like 1.5 million in salary.

I agree. I'd even throw in a late pick if they ate the salary.

We will be close next season when the cap is ~64. Anything over 4 million is too much.

I thought Gionta was a good captain? Why would you want to trade him?

It would be weird to trade the captain while being 1st in the East, but it's worth considering since the Habs are in a favorable cap situation next year.

Make the pick a 3rd but conditional to Clowe not resigning in Mtl and I wouldn't be against it.

i think Marc Bergevin as a plan to try to pick up Getzlaf and perry of free agency if not sign by ducks so they need cap space but for sure Perry will be their target for sure remember this post

Big market NHL team with cap space predicted to target top free agent? How could anyone forget this post

I suppose the Stars might offer Brendan Morrow?

Gionta's a great captain; his cap hit hurts and he's not what the Habs need on the 2nd line RW anymore:

Patches - Desharnais - Gallagher
Bourque - Plekanec - Ryder
Clowe - Galchenyuk - Eller
Prust - White - Moen
Armstrong (for now, until we get something better...like a new bag of pucks)

Markov - Emelin
Gorges - Subban
Cube - Diaz
Weber (Bye Bye, Kaberle)
