Basically priority one is Staal having full vision.
Priority two is a healthy, ideally conditioned, Staal for the playoffs.
Anything beyond that is gravy, IMO. Total recovery of 3-4 weeks seems pretty fortunate all things considered.

Staal will have no choice but to don the visor when he returns for at least the rest of this season. He will need to protect that eye from taking another puck.
Hope its true, and I dont know why the Globe guy would post that without some concrete info of some sort. Gotta think with the normal progression of healing that it would be about a month (April 2nd), but who knows.
Kinda weird that it happened not even a week ago... seems longer than that for some reason.
But even hearing mumbles of being out weeks instead of months is a great indication that he hasnt experienced any post-concussion symptoms. I think thats gotta be the most encouraging part of the news I take from that tweet.
Its not a surprise the Rangers wouldn't confirm the Dupont tweet. They could have denied the report but they didn't.
The Rangers put Staal on IR. Its retroactive to last Tuesday. The Rangers have 22 players on the roster. Asham is also on IR. The Rangers didn't bring up another player for the road trip(Buffalo,Winnipeg and Pittsburgh). They left today for Buffalo. The team didn't skate today. They meet at the airport and left for Buffalo. Asham indicated he is feeling better.
DEFENSE
Boasting three of the best defenseman on their blue line in Dan Girardi, Ryan McDonagh and Marc Staal, the Rangers have been pretty stout in their own end. They rank sixth in the league in goals against with 2.33 per game and have received significant contributions from guys like Michael Del Zotto and Anton Stralman as well. Otherwise relatively healthy, the team did suffer a blow to their back end in losing Staal to an eye injury, although it is not believed to be career or season-threatening.
There is no timetable regarding a return for Staal, who was struck just under the right eyelid by Jakub Voracek’s deflection of a Kimmo Timonen drive last Tuesday night, though the Blueshirts are hopeful the defenseman might be back by early next month.
Early April return. 2-3 weeks was the report from Kevin Paul Dupont. That would be early April. 3 weeks is the first week in April.
Not really. From yesterday, his 3 week deadline for accuracy would be April 1. So by default it's past his estimate. And from the above report, the word 'might' seems shaky, as if almost to say might be back first week in April, but will probably be back the week or two afterwards. So from what I insinuate from the Post's statement is that it is more in the 4 - 6 week estimate as opposed to 2 - 3. But time will tell I suppose.
first off i forgot asham was even on this team, and i agree with the post that we need to develop a tough guy and not sign a has been every offseason to be that guy.
