Option 2; Doughty now, OEL in the future.

First option, Doughty is dominant. OEL is making a case, though.

It's a fair question, but both with facts and in my opinion, OEL has done nothing to prove himself better than Doughty at any level so far. That being said, OEL is a terrific player and that's all said with all due respect.

I'm choosing Doughty now and in the future, because I really think he's just scratched the surface--he will be an absolute monster by season's end, mark my words. But I'm not absolutely ruling out OEL in the future.

I have em both in my fantasy team, and OEL is bringing me way more than Doughty has.

Doughty stepped it up during the playoffs and the Olympics, but during the past few regular seasons he's been average at best. I need a defenseman who brings it night in and night out. OEL now and in the future.

How is Doughty winning who's better now?

OEL leads him in every statistical category. He's a +9 and has 16 points (tied for first in points on his team). Doughty is a -4 with 10 points, 7:th in points.

Do you people even watch him play, he's at this point one of the Norris favorites, or atleast he3 would be if he played in a bigger and sexier hockey market.

Because a 20-game sample size doesn't override a history of success, imo.

My thoughts exactly. HF doesn't watch hockey other than their team.

Isn't the above arguing for reading statistics instead of watching the games?

OEL has only been in the playoffs once, and that time he was one of the cornerstones and led the team in ice time all the way to the WCF. They both look like playoff performers to me.

It's a great poll as these two will both be Norris contenders for years to come. OEL is more of a contender this season though.

Right now it's gotta be OEL. He's at worst top 3 so far this year. Who's going to be the best in the future is a crapshoot.. Doughty has a cup so his legacy is obviously better right now.

OEL now and future. Kid's such a stud.

I'm not saying he is (or ever will be) as good as Lidstrom was, but I definitely see some similarities.

I would of said Doughty before I watched OEL in their 3 game series against Anaheim, but right now I'm saying OEL. I love his game.
