Future Lineup

Predicting how prospects will play in the NHL or even which prospects will even make it to the NHL is a crap shoot. I'm sure every fan base has a more optimistic view of their prospects than is often warranted. But that said, it's hard to figure out where all the Hawk prospects fit in the lineup among the core group.

So just for yucks, take any players on the current roster and any prospects in the system and construct a 23 man roster for 2 or 3 years from now. Don't worry about expiring contracts or salary cap - as long as they're in the Hawks organization today - they can be used for this future lineup.

Teravainen-Toews-Hossa
Sharp-Danault-Kane
Saad-Shaw-Stalberg
McNeill-Kruger-JHayes
KHayes/Ross

Keith-Seabrook
Hjalmarsson-Clendening
Leddy-Johns
Fournier

Crawford
Whitney

Stalberg is as good as gone after this year...

Looking toward next year, maybe Pirri makes an impact? Year after that perhaps Danault & TT. At this point those three look like the best bets. There is certainly room because we will lose Bickell and/or Stalberg this offseason, then possibly Bolland the next offseason.

Personally, I'd rather keep Bickell/Stalberg over Bolland. Trade him and a few prospects to upgrade at center and get a true second liner and keep at least one of those guys.

Stephen Weiss is getting 4M+, despite being awful before being shut down for the season.
