Okposo=Dubinsky
Strome>Erixon (Two high end prospects at different positions)
1st>=1st
Since you're so insistent on putting a value on an Ovie trade to the Isles, what's to say the value isn't closer to the package that landed Jordan Staal and Brent Burns?

Young roster player, top prospect, and a 1st is something that could get a deal done considering his contract. The cap is going down next season and Sather isn't the GM of the Isles.

Grabner, Nino or Strome, and a 1st.

That's probably more accurate but I still wouldn't do it. The Isles should be fine up front. Any available trade chips and salary space should be invested into the defense. Maybe even goaltending, but they absolutely have to upgrade the defense any way they can.

You both need to take a lap. We're talking about other suitors bidding against the islanders and you think a package of Grabner strome and a 1st would get it done. That's less than Nash. Keep going lol

Ovechkin's trade value is entirely academic. They are not going to trade him. They are going to sink or swim with him, and any and all efforts to 'save' him are in vain. Good idea or bad from a Capitals point of view, they will keep him regardless of whether or not McPhee is running the team three, six or 18 months from now. The only real variable that might alter this is Leonsis' continued ownership of the club. Since he owns the Capitals, Wizards, Mystics and the barn in which all three play, both he and Ovechkin are most likely a lock to remain in place.
