Tough one there. Might have gone the other way if Sacco had ever heard of breakout plays. They made it seem like this team has never faced a forecheck. Good effort all in all, though I thought Duchene tried to do too much toward the end.

On the shorthanded goal, ROR turned so late that I was sure it must have been a miscommunication and he thought McGinn was going to stay with Toews. Then, McGinn totally declined to hit Toews as he was coming across the crease, instead doing some weird pose that didn't really affect anything at all. Horrible play all around. Also a bit surprised Varly didn't go for a poke, given how close Toews was.

Often.

We only have one D you can play power play when Johnson is out. Tyson Barrie. And he can't play 2 minutes.

And Kruger is still a beast

Seriously, tanking is not going to help us now.

Drafting an 18 year old defenseman, even Seth Jones, is not going to help us in the next 5 years. It's those years we have to make a push for the Cup. In general, defensemen peak later than forwards and take far longer to develop.

Avs PP gave up worse chances with Barrie back there so stop it with the five forwards as if that was the problem. If McGinn has his stick on that play, Toews probably doesn't score.

Disaster? That's Saccos middle name.

But It's not THAT common but he just thought that a 5 forward PP would be good against a team that is great short handed.

Lately, quite often.

And now we're like 0 for the past 14(?) PPs. Our power play has been atrocious all season, so Sacco's just throwing ideas against the wall.

If we don't play 5 forwards we have to play either SOB, ROB, Hejda, Zanon, Hunwick... I mean, take your pick.

It would probably be Hunwick and if so, I'd rather go 5 forwards.

I believe he did it against the wings when we pulled the goalie. I understood it then. This one blows my mind.

Still can't believe we let quinneville get away... Or bob Hartley for that matter

Depending on the forward it could help us within the next year or two. Yes a defender in the draft wont help us, but this draft is chalk full of high skill top line talent.

Don't say that. It's the only hope I have.

Drouin's the kid we need.

Landy - Staz/WorthIt - Drouin
Ginner - Dutchy - PAP
Jones - Sgar - Downie
Bordy - Malkin - Olver

Trade one of Staz or ROR for an EJ partner.

*Trade - EJ
Hejda - Barrie
Wilson - SOB

and this team's loaded.

Yeah, Mr. 6.5M can't be letting Toews walk around him like that.

yep, totally unacceptable with the lead in the 3rd on the road (against the winningest team in the league, withb3 of their key players out of the game)

LMAO... Avs gonna push for the cup with Hunwick, Zanon and the rest of that crappy d-core? I don't think this team will even make the playoffs the next 5 years without some huge changes all over the roster but specially on D.

Seth Jones is exactly what this team needs.

Just finished watching the game, I was pleased with the effort we gave on the back to back but once again we fall apart and can't even manage to get the game to OT. I will say the effort has been good the past 2 games and usually I'm fine as long as you play hard and get just get beat by a better team, but honestly I'm getting to the point where this team is going to have to show me some results as well. I'm happy for the effort but losing is getting real old real fast. The Avs need to show me some good faith wins. I'm mean its nice to win games against the Calgary, Edmonton and Columbus but I expect to beat those teams and am pissed when we lose to them, every once in awhile it would be nice to actually beat a legit team. Its time for this team and coaching staff to put up or GTFO, I want consistent effort and some solid wins or I want to clean house. Enough of this mediocrity/complacent BS.

As for tonight's game:

Duchene was in beast mode, could have easily had two or three goals if it wasn't for some good saves and a post, easily our best player tonight as he has been most of the year.

PAP was ok and McGinn was bad, he is in a terrible slump and needs a wakeup call.

Staz line again was disappointing.

RORs line was pretty solid, nice to see Mitchell bury his chance tonight unlikely last night.

Zanon was miserable again cost us the game in my opinion it was his guy that he didn't check that got the initial shot at the end which led to Carcillo getting a prime rebound attempt.

Rest of the defense was fine nothing great but nothing too miserable.

Varly had another solid game made lots of saves on point blank chances especially in the 2nd period. Dater is a retard. Its not Varlys fault that he continually gets peppered with 30+ shots every night. If you give teams like Chicago that many prime scoring chances they are going to get 3+ goals on 30 shots. In my opinion Varly was the only reason that we even had a chance in the 3rd as it could have easily been 4-2 or more Chicago going into the 3rd. I don't think either goal he gave up in the 3rd was particularly soft.
