Its not a coincidence.
Yeah, looks pretty good. Therefore, let's send him down immediately.

It's kind of sad that this horrible Florida team was tried with us in the standings prior to this game.

It`s GREAT...and his decisions with the puck are pretty solid too....also looks like he`s quite adept at blocking.

Such a rare thing for us. It so bad in recent years, I am happy over just 2 hits.

I would swear the game is one of energy and momentum. Fehr today was on local radio stating he definitely believe the riled up fans get the players to play better. Hits fire up the crowd.

I am surprised Carlson doesn't hit. I had him pegged all wrong as a prospect.

Won't do much until Ovi starts doing more of the puck retrieval work. Otherwise, it'll be less than the sum of the parts, like it happened with 8-19-28.

C'mon he has a decent shot and you see it.

Its not only that, its that he gives a full effort. He is making guys with longer contracts look worse to these eyes.

I sure hope you are not surly over this for 3 years and refuse to see the positives he is bringing.

Okay I'm watching some highlights of the Penguin Philly game. Hartnell starts throwing with Neil and the linesmen and ref jump in to stop it. Don't they usually just let them throw until they're done?

The ref jumping in shows the bias. Refs are supposed to stand back and observe to make the right calls.

Just like last year during the playoffs when Hartnell and Crosby were grabbing at each other and the ref went to separate them and backed off when Adams I believe jumped in and became the third man in.

Yeah, I wanted to see Neil get his ass kicked. Mario probly ordered they stop it early.

This looks fun... So, Randy, you think you'll be GDT starter for the next few?

Main board caliber nonsense.

Ovechkin retrieves the puck plenty and Hendricks/Chimera/Wolski/winger du jour gets 3-4 golden chances just about every game that are pretty much guaranteed to go nowhere. A more effective winger who knows what to do in the offensive zone and has the skills to do it would get similar looks/conversion to Ribeiro.

Just got caught up with the game. What a period. Now the Boys need to learn from Boston's mistake 2 nights ago and shut FLA down. No bad periods.

Also, whats up with Neuvy? Sick again? Seems fishy, and Oates didn't sound to pleased when I hear him comment on Neuvy being out. Neuvy's days with the Caps numbered? FLA could use him.

Ovechkin makes sure he doesn't need the refs to save him. When a fight looks imminent, he'll grab his ear, dive and pretend to be hurt. Saves the embarassment of being saved by the zebras.

Oleksy looks solid, that hit he put to break up the forecheck late in the first was fantastic. Remember when we called up Quintin Laing? McPhee loves giving guys chances.

Actually I watched it again and the ref #18 starts to get involved trying to grab Hartnell and then steps back.

I know about sample sizes, and with that I want to make it known that I'm not making any future projections or anything silly.

However, through a game and a third, Oleksy has not looked all that out of place in the NHL, and the way he plays the game right now is everything that the rest of this defense isn't. I understand the pessimism, but looking at it for what it is right now, Oleksy looks good. Impressive, even. Perhaps only because the rest of the defense is so atypical in comparison to the rest of the NHL, but he stands out in a positive way.
