Couturier + Coburn

Who can the Flyers get?

Picks in play as well.

Needs are obvious... #1 damn or potential for it.

Edler.

Edit-Obviously wont happen because he just re-signed but value wise it makes a lot of sense.

Coburn does have an NTC.

And just because Edler re-signed doesn't mean he's untradeable.

I would actually do this deal. Vancouver's need for a #2/#3 Center is huge right now. More so than our need for Edler (Our D as a whole can fill in his spot).

To Philly:
Alex Edler

To Vancouver:
Couturier
Coburn or Meszaros?

Does Coburn play the right side?

Philly would not do that unless you add substantially. Coburn is a top pairing d-man he plays the right side as a lefty, and Couturier well I don't think theres much to be said. Theres no reason for us to move both if Couturier is on the table I expect we get a top pairing d-man in return to play WITH Coburn.

Flyers will not get a top pairing damn for Couturier alone. That dream needs to die.

If the Flyers get a legit #1 for that package, I am completely comfortable pairing him with Grossman, who may not anchor a top pair, but can certainly play it with a legit #1.

For that, I would move Coburn.

Also, for Edler, I would say Meszaros is more in play for Coburn, because the difference between Coburn and Edler isn't Couts.

Edler isn't gonna be moved for just Couturier. Dream on Edler as a Defenceman likely out produces Couts in there prime years.

I agree with King Canuck.

But as mentioned, Coburn is a #2 himself, and their difference isn't Couts.

Fair enough. But Edler is one of Vancouver'd most valuable pieces a contending team like Vancouver won't move him unless an overpayment. Coburn and Couturier fill two needs for Vancouver, any other proposal not involving Coburn just isn't worth trading Edler for.

Coburn and Couturier are TWO valuable pieces for the Flyers, regardless of contention because they are contributing now, as well as pieces for growing. A deal around Coburn + for Edler is fine and fair, but I think asking for Couts as the difference isn't.

Briere + Coburn + minor piece for Edler and Ballard + less valuable minor piece or something makes sense to me.

BTW I threw in Ballard for salary reasons. Not sure of his value. Feel free to propose an alternative.

If Couturier is to be added, I would expect something significant coming back from Vancouver (though not as significant as Couts - I am not sure what this would be, though).

I love how it's 'coburn or meszaros'. Meszaros could probably be had for a late first/early second. Coburn's value is much higher than that. Pass.

I'd pass on Ballard being included.

If the Flyers were interested in Edler, Couturier or Schenn would have to be included.

Edler for both Schenns
or
Edler for Couturier + ???

Why do oiler fans still think that it works to lump these guys in proposals and expect reasonable responses. If gagner and pajaarvi are really worth that valuable why are they offered in EVERY oiler proposal?!

I'm gonna assume he was kidding offering up that package for couts and coburn. What a joke

I doubt Phoenix would be willing to do that.

I'd be willing to do it after Couturier's ELC is up to see if Laughton can take over the defensive role in Couturier's absence
