Seeing as the leafs are winger-heavy, I'd say it would take Luongo/Schneider or a #1 centre + top goalie prospect.
So you're not willing to trade 2 1sts and a 2nd (super original post btw 10/10 would read again), but you ARE willing to give up a #1 centre AND a top goalie prospect (nevermind that we don't even need another goalie prospect). Makes sense
As a wings fan I'd be willing to go something like Filppula+Nyquist+2013 1st for Kessel.
I know Filppula is a pending UFA but he's the only top 6 forward that would realistically be used in a package deal for someone like Kessel, unless you guys would want Franzen instead. I don't think the value would be enough to get Kessel but I don't feel like the Wings would be able to add anything else, maybe a conditional 2nd if they make it to the Finals but that's really it.
Assuming hes available, what would you be willing to give up for him?

as it was already posted...why even post this? All of the jokes will start AND Toronto in easily in the playoffs this year. How about worrying about his value in July if he will not sign an extension.

I feel like Leafs management will do everything to avoid that scenario, including trading him now while they're in the playoff race.
They simply cannot have made the trade they made, and then lose him for nothing. That would be completely irrevocably unacceptable to the fanbase.
Dreger, whose inside information I actually trust, especially with the Leafs since he's Nonis' cousin, has come out and said something along the lines of (paraphrased) "Leafs management isn't fooled by their current position in the standings. They know there are several key holes on the roster that need to be filled, that teams are calling about Kessel, and that Nonis is listening, even if he's not actively shopping him". There are also the rumours that Nonis initially was strongly against the trade to acquire him, and didn't think he was a guy to build around.
Now do I think he'll be traded this season? Probably not. But I don't think it's off the table either. IMO Nonis is willing to move him, just has to see the right deal. And that doesn't mean the equivalent of what the Leafs gave up, because that's obviously not going to happen.

I'm not sure if I'd do this, but I would consider it if we decide to trade Kessel.
Franzen is a big top 6 forward, can play on our top 6 to help for the playoffs race, Nyquist is rally good young player, has number one center potential, and a 1st round pick in a deep draft. A offer I would consider if we decide to trade Kessel.
I would do Kessel for big 1C with a sprinkle of prospects and/or picks to even things out. We are are deep on the wings so it wouldn't create a huge hole so in my mind if we get a 1C of equal talent or value I'd do it.
