Last 30 days Holtby has a 1.89 GAA, .939 SV %, and 3 SO.

Just admit you saw his first few games this season and have formed an unchangeable opinion on him based on those. Seriously, nothing wrong with not knowing everything about every player. Nobody does.

Holtby also played very well in the POs last year so no reason to think he can't perform there.

That is what BWC does.

Yeah, the first few weeks always leave the biggest impressions.

Speaking of goalies on the upswing, how about Tomas Vokoun?

Last 4 games:

4-0 .960 SV%

Might have more to do with the team in front of him, than the man in goal. Fleury has been killing it as well the last 2+ weeks.

Many here will scream overpayment, but this going to be the new standard for top tier players under new CBA with no option of throw away years. I am scared to think of Toews/Kane caphits will be 2 years from now.

Toews and Kane are going to clean house. But the length is longer if they stay at their current club....correct?

Eight year max to re-sign your own players, seven to sign free agents.

In terms of pure talent, Semin is among the leagues best. His shot is top 5 in the league.

I'll be really interested to see how Cooper does in TB. I've seen nothing but rave reviews for him.

Eakins and Hynes are AHL coaches next on deck for a promotion.

Jussi Jokinen waived, one of the most shocking waives of all time. He'll get claimed right away.

If somehow, as crazy as it would be, he makes it to us, Bowman better claim him. At least this is someone that we could use and could help us in a number of ways: faceoffs, defense, offense, has been good in the past in the shootout. Bobo wouldn't even have to give anything up. This is a dream scenario for him. Still, cold day in hell that makes it to us. I know he makes 3M next year, but I don't see the issue there. Swap Frolik out for him, Jussi is far superior. On the other hand, this leads me to believe Frolik may be unmovable.

A Stanley Cup with a good performance from Frolik should increase his value enough that we can get something minor for him.

I hope so, but this Jokinen thing is a game changer. With the cap going down, some good players may be out there for next to nothing. Time to fire up that hot stove!

Agreed

He seems to have finally found in Carolina a place that he is happy in

Carolina has been very successful with reclamation projects/change of scenery guys ,etc

Semin looks like another success story

East tonight

Rangers def Flyers 5-2
Leas def Panthers 3-2
Pens def Habs 1-0
Jets def Canes 4-1
Islanders def Caps 3-2

East playoff race

3rd - Jets 18-14-2 for 38 pts (14 games left)
6th - Maple Leafs 18-12-14 for 40 pts (14 games left)
7th - Devils 16-13-3 for 35 pts (15 games left)
8th - Rangers 16-13-3 for 35 pts (16 games left)

Islanders 15-15-3 for 33 pts (15 games left)
Hurricanes 15-14-2 for 32 pts (17 games left)
Capitals 15-17-1 for 31 pts (15 games left)
Sabres 13-15-4 for 30 pts (16 games left)
Flyers 13-17-2 for 28 pts (16 games left)
Lightning 13-18-1 for 27 pts (16 games left)

3rd place race has Jets pulling away with division lately and the battle for 7th/8th is crowded

Leafs have been pulling away from rest of pack and there playoff odds are improving daily

Flyers/Lighnting on life support with Sabres/Caps close to joining them

Anybody catch the caps game today? After battling back to tie it, mike green commits the worst TO i can ever remember seeing and islanders take the lead with ~5min left.

Nucks have won 5 in a row, and 6 for the Wild. Just looked at their schedules thinking a match up between the two sometime soon could be a fun one... but apparently they won't see each other again the rest of the regular season... too bad, I'd make a point to watch that if it didn't conflict with a Hawks game.

Still not scared of the Wings at all, but they're still playing pretty well. Won 3 in a row, including beating the Ducks twice, and L10 of 6-3-1.
