Brodin is in the NHL and doing well as a 19 year old so obviously you have to pick him but don't be surprised if Klefbom eventually makes this closer. A lot of people that watched Klefbom and Brodin play on the same team last season in the SEL actually felt Klefbom would be better fit for the NHL. By the end of last season and into the playoffs, he was actually playing more minutes than Brodin on most nights.
...and it's not like Klefbom is a guy that comes out of no where. He went 19th overall and many scouts told Edmonton media at the draft that he was a guy that could be the steal of the draft. Also, 4 out of 5 scouts asked at last years draft said they would take him over Ryan Murray if they were in the same draft. Klefbom is less than 2 months older than him despite being drafted a year ahead.
Klefbom had a season ending shoulder injury and has only played 11 games this season. In that short time he set a new career high in points and was leading the entire SEL in +/- with a +7.
In the summer(before Schultz lit up the AHL and the hype machine REALLY started up), a lot of people familiar with both said Klefbom had the higher ceiling. The day could come where Klefbom is the best of the 4.
Brodin is just so good. Shame he can't win the calder because he won't be putting enough points but there is no doubt in my mind that he's by far the most important rookie player to his team. Happy to have him.
Brodin gp19 G 0 A 3 P 3 +/- -2 TOI 21:51 plays alongside a 98 million dollar Dman
Schultz gp 24 G 5 A 8 P 13 +/- -10 TOI 22:40 plays alongside N.Schultz (same value as Gilbert)
not too hard to see why someone would say Schultz is better atm
Than you don't understand Brodin
Watch the kid play. Just watch him play. and D-man can help offensively more than just scoring points. There's something to be said for getting the puck cleanly out and through the defensive/neutral zone.
I don't think it's really close who's the better defenseman. Schultz can pot a few goals, but EDM is still close to last in the league in scoring. (So is the Wild, but they are much better defensively largely due to Brodin.)

The 4 out of 5 scouts sounds like a commercial, where did you get that from?
I like Klefbom but haven't seen many people higher on him than Ryan Murray from Columbus maybe you confused the Murphy with the Hartford one?

Brodin: 19 years old
Schultz: 22 years old
Brodin is considerably better defensively and has been one of the Wilds best d-men this year (some Wild fans have even said he has been better than Suter at times).
Btw, all of Schultzs points are on the pp.

Can we at least acknowledge that Klefbom and Brodin were considered neck and neck up until this season? Basically up until people from North America actually got to see one of them play?

Wild pair, easy choice for me, Brodin is what sets this apart.
I think what really sets this apart is Dumba. He's a step down from the rest at this point.

Up until last season, actually. Brodin really blossomed near the end of the season while Klefbom had a lot of injury concerns.
Personally, I'd take Dumba over Klefbom at this point. Klefbom has missed what? An entire season due to two injuries? As well Klefbom was never described as having as high of a hockey IQ as Brodin. Passionate, bigger. Yes. But Hockey IQ? Nope.

I somewhat agree on the Dumba thing. Although I don't think we are giving him enough credit too, He's a good prospect in his own right, and Klefboms stock seems to have fallen due to injury.
But Brodin makes up for it and then some for me, what a steal he looks to be.
