Is it too early to bring up more prospects?

Is it too early to start bringing up prospects from the farm to take a look see at how they react to the faster paced game? Would you bring up Adam to see if we can't increase his value? Is it too early to give Zemgus a taste of the NHL? After watching this team the last few games it seems as though nothing is going to amount out of this season except a top 5 draft pick. So i ask is it too early?

Too early for Zemgus, let him stay the full year in Rochester. Might not be a bad idea to give Adam 10-15 games at some point just to get a final verdict on him.

The likely time for this to happen would be after the deadline. Thats assuming we move out a bunch of vets.

But realistically most of the youth that you would want to get a look at, and are ready for a taste of the NHL, are already here.

I would give Adam the rest of the season after the deadline to see if he is worth keeping, maybe give McNabb a look aswell. Don't really see what else is worth bringing up.

Is Tropp going to be back at any point this year?

It was reported in the injury thread that he's skating already and ahead of schedule. Whether that means he can play this year I have no idea.

I hope Tropper can maybe get a few games in at the end of the season.

Should give a shot:

Adam
McNabb

Everyone else is off the list for this season. Zemgus is still at least a year away, and who knows with Pysyk? Maybe we see him in 2013-2014 but the following season is more likely.

The absolute worst thing to do with Girgensons is rush him. Let him develop in Rochester.

Plus (someone correct me if I'm wrong) if he plays more than 5 games in the NHL it counts as a year on his ELC, whereas if he stays in the AHL the contract will slide. So from that perspective it also makes sense for him to continue in Rochester.

Only prospects I could see getting a few games are Adam, Tropp (is he a prospect anymore?) and Varone.

However, if we have a very active trade deadline, we have quite a few players who could fill a roster spot in Mancari, Rissmiller, Tarnasky, Ellis...

No Zemgus. Not even close to ready.

Im not advocating for zemgus to be up here but give him three games or so and see how far off he really is ...use it as a measuring stick ...id also like to see the other tier of defensemen..biega, crawford, scheistel, mackenzie and a few forwards like varone and parker. Im not expecting anything from most of them but you never know one might stick.

Can anyone report on McNabb's recent play. I know he was struggling earlier this season.

Years in AHL count as years on ELC so he's already in the middle of yr 1 in his contract.

I'm in favor of giving Adam another shot. Nothing to lose, really

I'm actually more interested to see how some of these kids do in the AHL playoffs.

Last 5 games have been promising.
I don't think we'll be looking at a top 5 pick.

This is not true.
Unless he plays five NHL games this season or ten NHL games next season, his three year entry-level contract will essentially become a five year one, similar to Tomas Tatar.
AHL games ≠ NHL games.

As for if it's too early to bring more prospects up, the answer is yes.
The only one that remotely deserves a look is McNabb, and I think I'd rather that he stays down there for now.
Adam is a non-factor in both leagues and gets a big "I don't care" from me.

If anything, they need to send down players.

Yes.

I'd rather keep McNabb down and have him work on his game and take a crack at the lineup next season.

Adam gets a big "meh" from me and Girgs and Pysyk aren't ready. Look for 2014-2015 for them in my opinion. That's the earliest I want Grigs here anyways.

It seemed like just yesterday we were flush with D-men in the pipeline.

How did that transform into one of the worst defensive teams in the league?

Wha happened??

When forwards don't come back or turn the puck over in dangerous areas, it doesn't make the defensemen's jobs any easier. Their poor up front.

As for the OP: no, not right now. Maybe if they do the deadline sell-off, sure, although that further screws the Amerks.

As Chain said, the forwards cause a lot of issues with poor defensive play/commitment.
They are also a putrid possession team, so the mistakes are magnified.

The biggest issue for me though is the non-emergence of Myers.
A true #1D would allow others to slot in where they belong and takes pressure off everyone from Ehrhoff (as good as he's been, we'd probably be better off if he was getting more mis-matches), to Leopold, to the bottom pairing guys that don't even see the ice on contenders.
They have some solid guys in the pipe in McNabb and Pysyk, but they're not world beaters.
If you have Myers performing at a #1 level, Ehrhoff, Sekera, and players like McNabb and Pysyk in supporting roles, that has the potential to be a solid blueline.
Without it though, it's a mess.

He's slightly better defensively than he was early on, but he's still mostly terrible in his own end. Offensively, he makes things happen. He has a great shot, but doesn't seem to use it enough still. Seems like he'd rather distribute.

Seriously? Jonathan Parker is a borderline AHLer.
