Do you fire Laviolette? (Philadelphia Daily News article dated March 12, 2013)

Not saying I 100% would or anything, but the topic has got to be raised, should the Flyers can Lavy?

We were underwhelming last year and were thoroughly out-coached against the Devils, it was men against boys. We've started worse than any season in memory except when we finished #30 and nobody looks like they know what they're doing.

Do you fire him, and who do you bring in if so?

Time to Release Peter Laviolette

The NJ Playoff series flounder may have been a contributing factors of a beat up blue line, and poor goaltending but it was obvious Lavi did little to adjust to NJ's forecheck.

We open up this season and once again he has refused to adjust anything but line combos.

Special teams are atrocious.
Turn overs are prevail-ant.
The players look worn, and beaten.

Its time to send this guy packing.

Who should be brought in (coaching staff wise) to save this season?

This isn't like we're being frustrated though, they're doing nothing. There's next to no chances being created any more, there's no defensive coverage and our PK is almost a guaranteed goal. This isn't something that's just going to fix itself.

If they fire him, Berube would just take over.

Seems like the trend is that a former Flyer follows a coach who was not one previously, and vice-versa

I wanted to fire him for our last two playoff losses.

The other teams completely stopped us and we never changed our strategy, we just kept beating beating our heads against a wall until we eventually lost.

Yeah, I'm beginning to think lavi needs to go. I just don't like our options for replacements.

This seems like one of those, "well if you can't fire the players" situations.

The issue there is that technically, yeah, they did fire the players. The two cornerstones of the Philadelphia Flyers 3 years ago are now cornerstones of the Los Angeles Kings.

Lavi has had a lot of glaring issues the past 2 playoff seasons and should have been on the hot seat for those. The start the Flyers have had and the lack of passion both on the ice and behind the bench says something is very wrong.

I'd hardly call them cornerstones in LA. It's Kopitar, Quick and Doughty's team, Richards and Carter are complimentary.

But this past offseason the Flyers lost Jagr and JVR's offense, signed nobody other than Fedotenko and expected Schenn, Couturier, Voracek, Simmonds etc to take a step forward, but they haven't.

One is signed through 2020 and the other through 2022. No one knows if they'll be there that long, but that's no different than how Couturier and Schenn are seen here.

I think Homer "losing" last offseason also hurt the team. He went after a bunch of players and lost out on them, replacing players that left with lower level players.

This is true, but I still can't blame the coach for having holes everywhere on the ice. Plus with all the injuries, I just can't believe firing Lavi would be the solution.

wait, why? cause we lost a couple games? the devils didn't beat us because we were out coached like everyone wants to act. they beat us because their players were bigger and stronger along the boards especially down the wing. when you constantly win one on one battles you set your self up. it wasn't goaltending either. bryzgalov was one of our best players in that series. laviolette will get more time especially with the turnover of this team since he took over. calm down. it'll come together. patience you crazy mofos. whether your in denial or not about it we did rebuild in 2011.

If Bryzgalov is still a disaster, he's lost at least 5 off-seasons. That's a lot of off-seasons to not get better and be lauded for it.

2006 was terrible but they had an excuse - the roster was dreadful. It had a few talented kids and nothing else. This is entirely different, this team should be top 5 in the conference and we're finally getting the netminding that we thought we'd get from Bryzgalov but they're an embarrassment to the shirt.

I've never been so angry with a Flyers team in my life, they're not getting any coaching whatsoever.

Yes

The players need a new system, Lavy is not working here. He's had his time, weve had some good years, but this team has changed, we cannot play the way we did before.

Lavy has to go

Let's just fold the franchise and start over.
