Looks like our depth gets *****, and our prospect pool, that we don't have, takes another hit. No thanks. I'm afraid there is no quick fix with these Flyers, it's gonna be bottom dwelling for a couple years to get **** right.
Edlers not that much better than Coburn.
Luongo's not much better than Bryz. Schneiders better but he's not that much better than Bryz and the Flyers still have Bryz's contract.
A Flyers first round pick that will be in the top ten.
And Couterier
And Vora?
I wouldn't know where to start with this proposal other than to say under no circumstances should the Flyers 1st round pick be available at this point. It could easily be the 1st overall pick. Even saying that the proposal is just bad.
Seems like both teams need a bit of a shakeup. How about something like this...
To Philadelphia:
Goalie (take your pick, not intending to make this a goalie debate thread)
Alex Edler
2nd round pick
To Vancouver:
Jakub Voracek
Sean Couturier
Braydon Coburn
1st round pick
Thoughts?
Sure...just take out the 1st, Voracek and Couts and add Briere and a 2nd.
It gives the Canucks:
Briere instead of Luongo...a C that you need
Coburn replaces Edler....and the difference in talent is a 15 spot increase in draft position.
The idea being Philly's pick is much higher than Vancouver's. Even then I'd consider it a risky proposition because the Flyers pick is pretty close to top 5 (it might even be in it in the current standing) and it might mean they end up missing out on Jones, Mackinnon, or Drouin.
I like it for the Flyers because it gives them a chance to amnesty Bryz and have a long term solution in goal. Plus it gives them a #1 defenseman who's locked down for years.

Make it a 2nd from Vancouver and I'd pull the trigger on this
Edler
Luongo
2nd
for
Couterier
Coburn
1st
Vancouver gives up a 1/2 defender and a number one goalie for a 3rd line center ( future 2nd) a replacement for Edler and a pick

I'd be more open to trading that pick post-lottery but if the Flyers end up in the bottom 5 in the league and have a decent chance to win the lottery it's really dangerous to make in a trade like this.
I love Edler and Luongo so I'm not opposed to making this type of trade, even though it's not realistic whatsoever, but the Flyers should be very conservative with that pick until they know where it is.
