Got this link from the prospects section about Drouin and Mack:

http://www.thescoutingreport.org/the...nnon-or-drouin

Also Dnicks, check out what the author said about Mack (that he is a two way player - I point this out because we were arguing about it a few pages back....). Finally somebody commented about that facet of Mack's game which I find pretty impressive especially at his age.

Drouin I think will end up going no.1 overall. His numbers are some of the most dominant coming from junior since Crosby.

I think you could see something like

1. Drouin - Florida
2. Mackinnon - Columbus
3. Jones - Buffalo
4. Barkov - Calgary
5. Lindholm - Edmonton
if we end up drafting 5th (which is entirely possible, and a pretty decent guess) i would be REALLY hoping that barkov falls to us... lindholm looks good and all, but as with most swedes, will take a few years before he is ready to step in..... however, all the swedish posters seem to love him, and that's definitely a good sign for him

barkov just looks like the real deal, a guy who will be a solid #2 or #3 center, providing size and at least some scoring

interesting article, and has some nice stats there for us draft junkees

it only solidified my support of mackinnon over drouin though... better at faceoffs (obviously as a center, but 55% is pretty good as a 17/18 year old), better defence, larger player and better speed... both players produced just fine without the other player.... mackinnon has been producing at a higher level for longer, and all thigns being equal, you want to go with the player who has been playing at an elite junior level for the longest... also drouin's 25% shooting% has me a little concerned, making me wonder how sustainable that is over the longer term

Agreed.

Also, I think that MacKinnon (like Tavares) has had to deal with a lot of hype and media pressure from being dubbed the latest "next one" and has still managed to perform. Drouin has only been talked about as a potential 1st overall for the past couple of months.

I don't really buy it. He was quite while back, but it's been Jones vs MacKinnon for about a year now. He hasn't really been "the one". Mackinnon has played ok, but Jones and Drouin have just flat out been better

John Davidson is a guy who likes to build from the back. He drafted Pietrangelo and there is no way he would pass up Seth Jones. As for Lindholm; I would take Monahan before him.

New ISS rankings.. everything near the top is pretty much the same.

1 Jones, Seth RD 10/3/1994 R 6.03.5 208 Portland WHL
2 Nichushkin, Valery F 3/4/1995 L 6.04 202 Chelyabinsk Traktor KHL
3 MacKinnon, Nathan C 9/1/1995 R 6.00 182 Halifax QMJHL
4 Drouin, Jonathan C 3/27/1995 L 5.10.75 185 Halifax QMJHL
5 Nurse, Darnell LD 2/4/1995 L 6.03.5 189 S.S. Marie OHL
6 Barkov, Sasha F 9/2/1995 L 6.03 209 Tappara FinE
7 Zadorov, Nikita LD 4/15/1995 L 6.05.25 230 London OHL
8 Lindholm, Elias C 12/2/1994 R 6.00 192 Brynas SweE
9 Monahan, Sean C 10/12/1994 L 6.02 186 Ottawa OHL
10 Ristolainen, Rasmus RD 10/27/1994 R 6.04 207 TPS Turku FinE

I hope even with our improvement lately we'll still be able to come away with at least Monahan.

I'm a bit surprised how high on Nichushkin ISS seems to be. I thought he was impressive at the WJHC, but I felt he was lacking a bit of vision and hockey sense.

Yeah, the only thing you can bank on is Jones going first or second, I think.

this looks like one of those things that the mags do so people talk ablout it. there is no way that there is a consensus that Nichushkin is rated higher than mackinnon and drouin.

These next two games against DET and NAS will tell us a lot. If we are going to miss the playoffs I want to get a draft player that will help this team. Either that big 2C or big dman that can move the puck.

assuming that we finish with the 4th-10th pick, which i think is a pretty safe bet, we should be able to walk away with one of barkov, lindholm or monahan... although if we finish 8th-10th, that is gonna be a little tougher... we'd need a team to like nurse and 1 or 2 of the russians going before our pick as well

I can't pretend that I'm an expert or that I've seen any significant amount of any of these guys, but to me right now, I want Barkov.
I figure Oilers pick around 8-12th. Is it a guarantee he's gone by that time?

I heard he stop being "special" half way through the season. I guess he is getting back on track now? How's he looked? I still think he goes in the 1st round.

Wasn't too noticeable.

Lost an edge and fell for the giveaway on the winning goal in OT though.

And yeah, I think he sneaks into the 1st round too. Just too much talent.

Well lets hope he slips to us in the second. I still don't see how some people have Jason Dickinson in the top 15. He has pretty much the same point totals.

Yeah, it's kind of odd how most scouting sites/agencies have Dickinson in there almost solely on his potential.

He's cooled down quite a bit in the second half of the season and might be one of the only guys more inconsistent than Kujawinski up in the 1st/2nd range of the draft.

No way Barkov slips to 8. He might even be gone as early as 2-3. I think he's probably gone at 4-5.

He just seems like exactly what the Oilers need. Who knows, everybody is so close, tough to have any real idea of where they'll pick...

I might be wrong but from what I have seen (3 or 4 games) monohan reminds me of couture, big ,hits everything and can score. I think unless we really go in the tank he is the player I like the most in that 6-10 range

I am not sure why he has fallen last year at this time I would have been ecstatic to get him, in all honesty who ever we pick unless its the top 3 is playing at least another year in junior or Europe.

The dark horse could be lazar if he has a good playoffs he could move up everyone's charts, especially with the oilers love of drafting oil kings. It would not surprise me if lazar or jarry end up in Edmonton, I don' t like lazar top 10 but if we could get a second 1st and pick up a lazar/rychel it would sure add some grit.

yeah i think barkov gets picked in the 4-6 range for sure... jones, mackinnon and drouin will almost assuredly be the top-3 picks, then there is the next bunch (barkov, lindholm, nichushkin, monahan, nurse)... but of those players in the next bunch, i think barkov is clearly in the top half
