Yah why isn't he playing in Lake Erie? Can't possibly still be a groin issue right?

At this point, I could see the Avs not even giving him a qualifying offer next summer. Sad.

It could be, but it really seems unlikely to me that it was ever a groin issue at this point. Maybe Orwell (I think that is the poster who has had info in the past) knows more?

Agreed. Sadly, it's seemed pretty clear for quite some time now that the kid is done. Didn't Roy even make a reference to him like sometime's picks don't work out?

He did during one of the camp pressers. I think the Avs have pretty much lost all faith in him and that is part of the reason Sgarbossa was brought in.

Fixd

I honestly think they still like his talent and what he could bring to the table...If he could find a way to get healthy...they would give him a shot...but that doesnt seem to be happening.

Its too bad. I was rooting hard for the kid just like I was with Meuller.

Getting MacKinnon and the emergence of Smith and Sgarbossa has lessen the blow of Hishon to me. But it still absolutely sucks to see a good guy like Hishon get the worst outcome. Seriously why can't this happen to players like Cooke or Avery instead?!

Pray for the best, expect the worst is the philosophy I am taking for Hishon.

Thinks he's playing Friday.
It's a team decision not his.

Great news!

Praying to the hockey gods that he can stay healthy.

That's good news. I assume you mean it was a team decision to hold him out this long?

Thats it any time he's injured I'm bumping this thread up, he seems to gey "healthy" every time it's get brought up.

Couple of questions

1) was it in fact a groin injury, that has sidelined him this year?

2)It's a team decision on to play him? Does this mean he doesn't want to play?

I took it as him saying it was the team's decision NOT to play him, not his, that if it were up to Joey he would have been playing already.

Never got to watch him last season with LEM. How'd he play? He got 6 points in 9 games which I'll take as a good thing, especially since it was his first time back on ice in a couple years. Glad to hear he'll play soon.

Pretty solid, but rusty.

Very crafty with the puck, Patrick Kane-esque vision (not as good of course), and underrated two-way game (Patrick Kane comparison in terms of how he plays). Sustained a dirty hit from behind from a ECHL goon that made his progress delayed then in turn made him more rusty, which made him get a groin injury, which he missed training camps from NHL and AHL until now.

That's great to hear Hishon is close to playing. I hadn't seen any pumpkin jerseys in the practice photos (which is sad this is the extent of info out of Cleveland) so I was hopeful.

Looks like it was the winner too. Joey never seems to lose his hands, no matter how long he's sat out for.

I should not have watched, I feel excited about the guy once again.

I'll be disappointed as always.

If he was to turn into a player at this point, it would be like Avs traded for him.

I listened to most of that game last night, Hishon played well and was really involved. I didn't expect him to be all over the ice so much after being out so long.

He did play pretty good last year too, just a little rusty. I'm glad he's playing well.
