Looks like we have Stastny's replacement for next season lol

I wouldn't mind:

O'Reilly-Duchene-Downie
McGinn-MacKinnon-Parenteau
Landeskog-Hishon-Tanguay
McLeod-Mitchell-Bords

Or should we switch things up if Staz leaves?

If Stastny leaves, ROR would most likely take his spot. Stas is playing all the tough minutes, against the top lines.

Landy ROR Tangs
McGinn Duchene PAP
Mitchell Mac Downie
McLeod Malone Bords, Cliche

Maybe switch Malone and Mitchell? Or Hishon plays on Mac's wing? We would still be able to roll 3 lines with the loss of Stas, assuming ROR takes his previous role over.

I really don't like the MacKinnon line in your prediction. I'd like to see a natural passer with MacKinnon this early in his career. Downie and Mitchell don't fit the bill. But I like the top two lines. Hishon on Mac's wing would be nice though.

Downie IS a natural passer.

I see ROR's future as on the wing, though of course he could cover Stastny's spot if he gets traded this season. If we are talking next season I think they sign a defensive 3C. It would be fantastic if Hishon could enter the equation next year though.

Hishon should only make it as a winger

People on HF get so sensitive when someone slightly disagrees. By natural passer I mean like a Tanguay, Stastny, or Parenteau, even Landy. They can all make the beautiful passes look effortless. Yeah, Downie can pass, but not as well as the others. That's all I meant. If we rolled out a third line of Hishon-Mac-Downie I would be happy.

I agree. Some players are just so fluid in their movements and actions that it's a natural work of art for them, others are good but it's not the same type of action.

I say we would put more defensive help on Mac's wings and put two protectors with Hishon and then shelter him like we are doing this year with Mac.

O'Reilly-Duchene-Parenteau
Landeskog-Mackinnon-Tanguay
McGinn-Hishon-Downie
McLeod-Mitchell-Cliche

I'm not a fan of any move that puts Mitchell on a top 9 line because he is best when his line mates are energy guys and his match ups are weak.

You think Landy is a more natural passer than Downie?

Yeah, I like your line combination as well. I think I was in the mindset that Landy and Tangauy were going to be a part of the "shutdown" line. But that's what the fourth line is for anyways. I like your top three. And nice adding Cliche, I thought he was pretty strong on the puck last night against Carolina.

I said it before and I'll say it again he's made for Duchene. I'm not sure if he can play on the RW but if not try ROR there. It does get crowded in the top 9 TBH.

Your referring to Hishon? That would be quite the jump. From the AHL to the top line with Dutch.

Listening to the Monsters game tonight Hishon scores again. Supposedly highlight reel goal too. Sgarbossa was the other goal, slapshot. Monsters up 2-1 in the 2nd.

Well I look at it this way, Hishon should be a wing if he does make it to the NHL, and if he does make it on the wing he won't be on the shutdown line in his first year, and I'd rather let MacK not have to carry a rookie, so playing with Duchene and O'Reilly makes the most sense, keep the burden off of MacK as much as possible while putting Hish in the best position to flourish as well.

Without a doubt Hishon will be able to fill in as the number one defensive center without ever playing a single minute on NHL ice. Not to mention adding some offensive ability. Fill him in.

If Stastny leaves, i'd rather sign a FA then call up Sgar or Hishon to begin the season. Right now we have 2 above average (defensively) top 6 lines, and a sheltered line. If we left it out it is, We'd either have

a) 2 average lines and a sheltered line or
b) 1 shut down line, 1 average/below average, and a sheltered line.

While our defense hasn't been bad, I guarantee it will be exposed next year with a shuffle up of lines and no one to replace Stastny's defensive abilities.

Amazing that he's still producing after so many issues. I mean look at Crosby, multiple injuries, still the best dam player in the league. Some players just have it!

Still hope he can make it somehow. He seems to shoot which is good. Might be a good replacement in the top 9 if someone goes down or when/if a trade happens.

Hishon with the game winner tonight, a goal yesterday, a SO goal/game winner in his first game back last weekend (he also had an assist in that game)- maybe we should not write him off just yet.

Heard for 3rd! (line center next year that is)

I don't know why, but I have always thought that Hishon would break into the Avs roster as a winger...maybe replacing Tanguay in a season or two on the Stastny-Lando line.

If he continues to produce in the AHL, there is also a good chance the Avs use him as a trade chip at the deadline unless injuries for the big club put him into a spot with the Avs.

IF Stastny leaves or is traded, I would guess the Avs would take their chances with one of Olver, Hishon, Sgarbossa, Smith, Heard, Malone, or possibly Mitchell stepping into the third line spot before signing anyone. As others have mentioned, in a worst case situation O'Reilly could move back into the spot...though I think he has found a home on the wing for the foreseeable future.
