Its tough to be in a position of strength when you are a perennial bottom feeder.

And yes, as a Leafs fan, I know what that feels like.
For Nash they got 1st round pick, Dubinsky, Anisimov and Erixon.

That's a lot more than the Leafs 1st and a mid-level prospect.

(I assume Bozak++ for Stastny)
Did you even read why Dubinskey would be traded? It would be more about his cap hit and you think they would want Grabo's cap hit in return?

Columbus is loaded with defensive prospects. You apparently don't watch the Blue Jackets.

Columbus's first is off limits unless it returns a young franchise player, the only Leaf I would trade it for is...

no one.
if you regularly watch the Leafs you know Grabo is better than Dubi

And it was stated in the OP that CBJ would most likely trade Dubi due to his salary. So do you really think Grabo would be a target when he is equally overpaid.

You just aren't listening.

Grabovski is too expensive and too old.

Rebuilding teams aren't looking for 29 year old $6 mm year marginal 2nd line forwards.

They are looking for picks and prospects.

Gardiner is a nice blue line prospect. Columbus has lots of those and little in the way of top end forward prospects. Take him out of the deal as well.

Columbus's first 2013. Hahaha- Columbus has no interest in repeating the Leafs giveaway of Tyler Seguin.

If the Leafs are interested in Dubinsky, start with Toronto's 1st pick 2013 and add a mid-level forward prospect.
Dubinskys a $5 mm 4th liner on a decent team. He has outlived his usefullness with the jackets as they improve. toronto is retooling and he is not highly talented, cheap or young. Take him out of the deal.

See what i did there

The source here is Garrioch, so this is likely false. /thread

How about Columbus keeps him. Dubinsky is not what the Leafs need at all, but he is exactly what a rebuilding Jackets team needs- a leader.

Leafs need to go get someone like Galchenyuk and perhaps a scoring winger for good measure.

It does actually hold some logic though with a new GM known for his good drafting to want to clear out high salaries and get as many picks as possible. That way he can rebuild the team his way.

I have to agree. I'm not saying they want to move him, I really don't know.

While it seems Davidson really likes Dubinsky, I can understand if Kekalainen wants to move anyone for high enough draft picks/prospects.

The team has three first round picks, John Davidson has commended Brandon Dubinsky multiple times this year, Dubinsky is our best penalty killer, he's already a fan favorite, he embodies what management wants this team to be, he's a favorite to get the captaincy, and Aaron Portzline shot this one down immediately.

Jarmo will rebuild the team his own way, but he already has quite a few tools to do that. I fail to see what trading Dubinsky would really accomplish, especially when there are other players who would be much more likely to move.

LOL I've been laughing about this one for awhile now. Dubinsky has been one of the most overrated players in hockey for probably the last 3 years now. The whole argument centered around a few years when he put up 50 ish points while getting first line minutes. The whole problem being that on a halfway decent team Dubinsky wouldnt be sniffing first line minutes. What a horrible move by Columbus picking up his albatross contract in exchange for their franchise player. It amazes me how often the Rangers get rid of horrid contracts and actually get something of value for them

Even when JD and Jarmo were with the Blues, Davidson openly said that Dubinsky was a player on the Rangers that they coveted. At the time, Pleau was the money and contracts man and Jarmo was their key talent evaluator. Dubinsky's price is a little steep, but not crazy. So unless they really don't like how he's developed or the offers for him are great, this sounds like it was completely invented.

Oilers should go after him - perfect fit on the 3rd line.

This is like the JJ rumor.. I don't think Columbus is trading either one of them.
